My parents chose to ignore it, while my father opted to compensate her.

Vivienne had told me more than once, "I'll be out of your family's hair soon. I'm marrying into the Stratton family. You know the Strattons, right? The biggest high-society family in New York City."

In my early twenties, I was arrogant and proud. I couldn't allow someone like her to talk to me that way. That's when I started to entertain some devious thoughts.
