Chapter 8

I never imagined such words could come from Asher's mouth.

For someone so arrogant and cold-hearted to call me heartless, all I could say was, "Look who's talking."

"Today marks the anniversary of our first encounter," Asher said slowly after a long pause.

I vaguely recalled it, but thinking about it only made me feel bored.

That day was clearly the beginning of my nightmare. I don't know why, but coming from his lips, it sounded like some momentous occasion.

"I remember now. If I'd known it would lead to this, I would have preferred never to have met you that day."

Asher repeated my words with a hint of self-mockery, "Never to have met me!"

"Then why did you barge into my life?" Asher put his hand on my shoulder. " Kerpan, weren't you the one who told me you liked me?"

"Like you? You actually believed me when I said that?" I scoffed coldly. "Did it ever occur to you that I only had Cora because I was young and wanted the status of being Asher's baby mama?"
