All the people present in the temple looked on with curiousity as the lord of their domain approached the beautiful woman.
Quite a few men felt extremely sad and powerless that even this beauty would be taken by this man. They were very vexed about this but were powerless in front of a noble.
Even after seeing Baron Lopas approaching her, the expression on Leyla's face did not change at all. She just looked at him for a moment with disinterest and then again focused on her beloved son who was millions time more important than this man.
The baron noticed this but did not mind it that much. He was used to be heavy handed and did not care if the lady was interested in him or not. He was always ready to force himself on them.
But he had not expected even in his dreams that Leyla would completely disregard his presence and would continue walking past him without even acknowledging him.
This was too much for the sensetive and egoistic baron. He turned back toward the mother and son pair with anger filled red face and shouted -
"Is this how you behave before your husband, you harlot ? Kneel before me and I might not punish you too harshly for this humiliation."
Hearing that the crowd was again in an uproar. They had also now realised that this beautiful lady turned out to already be married to the baron but it looked like their relationship was not good.
Hearing what Baron Lapis had to say, finally Leyla looked at him and her eyes turned cold. Then she twisted her mouth in disgust and said -
"Do not talk to me, you disgusting pig. I have nothing to do with you anymore. Scram."
She spoke very little but what she told left the people present in that place to be dumbfounded. This was something that they had never expected.
Actually even if nobles did hold a lot of powers in this nation but they were not all powerful. Anyone who was not a part of this nation or anyone with a certain amount of power would never fear a baron from a backwater territory.
The people of this domain were so fearful of the baron was because all the generations of the Lapis family had ruled them through fear. It was the simplest way for them to establish their dominance.
Alexis would soon be granted a noble title much higher than a baron because of his insane talent and potential. And as Leyla was actually from a different nation, she also did not fear the laws of this nation.
If it was before, she would still be fearful of the baron's forces. But after the last year of training, she herself had managed to learn not only the Elemental Enchantment but also two other powerful skills.
So for this reason, now even she was capable of facing off against the baron's soldiers. And even if she could not defeat all of them alone, her son could definitely defeat them in a blink of an eye. That was the reason why Leyla had no hesitation in going against the baron now.
Obviously this attitude was not appreciated by the baron. Even lady Annavet beside him was furious by Leyla's attitude.
Firstly she was already feeling jealous of Leyla's beauty. So when Leyla stood out against Baron Lapis and called him a pig, Annavet felt as if she herself was insulted for her choice in men.
So immediately she took this opportunity to provoke the baron and asked him to teach this stupid woman a lesson.
Baron Lapis did not need much provocation as he was already furious. So he immediately ordered the soldiers to capture the mother and son pair. He was even thinking about taking this woman right here in the public.
Seeing this Leyla became ready to take out a sword from her inventory. Even though she had not practiced it for long, she had a natural talent for the sword and she had became quite good at it.
But before a fight could break out, a terrifying aura was released from the temple that froze all the soldiers in fear. Leyla would also have frozen but Alexis secretly protected her from this aura.
Feeling this terrifying aura, everyone looked toward the temple and saw that a serene old man was coming out. Behind him a large warrior was also coming out and he was the source of the aura.
The old man at the front was the head priest of the temple, Bishop Connoe and the large man behind him was his bodyguard and the head paladin, Gran Lantrak. He was the strongest man present in the city.
Seeing that Leyla was not too affected by Gran's aura, Bishop Connoe was a bit surprised. But soon he got rid of the surprise and smiled toward the crowd. Then in an old but dignified voice he said -
"The temple is a secret place where believer comes to worship out almighty god. This is a place where no violence should happen. So I will not allow the soldiers to break the rules of the temple."
As soon as the bishop spoke, all the soldiers immediately kneeled and apologised. The power of the temple was above most nations. So there was no way for soldiers of a backwater baron to oppose them.
Seeing this scene, the bishop nodded his head and said in a gentle tone -
"Do not worry. As no harm was done, I will forgive all your sin. Just make sure to not repeat the same mistake again in the future."
After addressing the soldiers and especially the baron, next Bishop Connoe looked at the whole crowd and again spoke up in a dignified voice -
"Today is a special day when the blessings of the gods will grace us all. The children who had turned ten will be able to awaken their potential today. Some might have stronger or weaker abilities but that is the truth of life. Instead of feeling down or elated, we all should use whatever we have to reach the greatest possible height."
After saying this much, the bishop took out a golden orb. He poured his magic power inside it and it started shining in bright golden light.
Then in front of the temple gate and in the open ground of the temple, a stage appeared with a book floating in the middle.
This was a fantastical sight but most of the people did not show much reaction after seeing it. That was because this sight was shown every year during the Divine Awakening ceremony, so the people were already familiar with it.
After the stage with the book appeared, the bishop asked the first ten year old to go on the stage and to touch the book. This was the beginning of the Divine Awakening ceremony.
