Ch 9: Divine Awakening Ceremony (3)

After Bishop Connoe's declaration, one of the priests guided a ten year old to the stage first. This whole process was done in first come first served basic, so this child got the chance to go first as he had arrived the earliest.

As soon as he touched the book, it started shining with a golden light. Then after a few moment, the shine died down and three large pages appeared above the stage.

These pages had the status of the child written on it. The first page just had his name and age so no one was interested in that page. Normally the first page also had stats written in it but the book used in Divine Awakening Ceremony was not able to project that.

The second page had the information about his skills and that was the thing everyone was interested about. And the skill this boy had was "Robast Vitality".

This ability increased a person VIT stat by 10 percent.

It was not considered to be a very powerful ability as the boost it provided was not very strong but it was not bad either. The boy himself was happy about it.

Then all the people looked at the last page where his sensitivities and affinities were mentioned. This child turned out to have an aura sensitivity of E which was very average and he also had water elemental affinity of low grade.

This quality of status was nothing in the eyes of a noble but for a commoner this was a very impressive result. Many people did not have even a single affinity or sensitivity. So having both was a very good thing even though their grade was low.

After the Divine Awakening ceremony was over for the boy, he left the stage with a wide smile on his face. He was satisfied with his talent and potential. He would not have any trouble living a good life in the future with this.

...

After the boy it was turn for a girl to awaken her status panel. But she turned out to not have a great talent. Her skill was "Flower Bloomer" which allowed her to increase the growth speed of a flower by 20 percent and had no affinity or sensitivity.

This was very common and no one was surprised. The girl herself was a bit disappointed with the fact that she did not have a powerful talent but that disappointment lasted for a very short time.

She also left the stage happily while thinking that now she could create a big garden of flower with her skill.

Just like this, the ceremoney continued and one child after another went on the stage. Most of them had very average talents but there were a few who had somewhat decent potential too.

In this way soon it was time for the Baron's son to go to the stage. After the whole incident with Leyla, Baron Lapis was in a very bad mood. But still he was looking forward to his son Corris awakening with great potential.

He was specially looking forward to Corris showing stronger potential than his other son he had with that harlot. He was looking forward to insulting the poor talent of that boy and seeing the look of despair in that slut's eyes.

Corris was also very sure of himself and went to the stage with large and confident steps. Then he put his hand in the book and just like all the previous times, the book again started to shine with a golden light.

But this time the light of the book was more intense then the previous times.

Actually with the golden light, this book was activating and reading the information on the status panel of a person.

The brightness of the golden light indicated that this time more energy was needed to read the status panel which most of the time meant that the person had more things written on their status panel.

Even though the brightness of the book was higher than normal in Corris' case, baron Lapis was not satisfied as it was not bright enough.

But still he had hope that even though Corris would not have a lot of skills, if his skill was a powerful one or if his affinities or sensitivity was of a high grade, then the baron would still be ecstatic.

While the baron was thinking so, the light died down and the everyone present in the temple eagerly looked at the pages that appeared.

The first page was as usual filled with identity information and no one was much interested in it. The second page was their main attraction.

On the second page, three skills were mentioned. That was quite a good result but for a noble, it was not that impressive. Even today, there was a commoner who had awakened before with three skills.

But the quality of the skills was much more important than the quantity. One single powerful skill was much better than having hundreds of useless skills.

After going through all the skills, the people present were very conflicted if they should be impressed or disappointed. The skills that Corris had were not bad but were also somewhat lackluster.

The baron and the baroness was feeling the same. They were not completely disappointed with the skills but still they wanted them to be a bit more powerful.

Corris' three skills were "Fire Boost", "Efficient Body" and "Fist Hardening". Among them the first skil was most impressive as it could boost the power of fire element by 10 to 20 percent depending on his mastery of the skill.

Efficient body was a skill that allowed him to need less food to operate normally. This was a somewhat useful skills for a commoner but for a noble, it was useless.

Nobles did not lack food so they did not need this skill at all. Instead the side-effects of this skills would increase the chance of skill holder gaining more weight easily. So for Corris, who liked to eat a lot, this skill was a bit problematic.

As for the last skill, it simply allowed him to harden his fists to increase the strength of his punch. But the strengthening this skill provided was limited. So even though this was a good and useful skill. No one thought that it was super impressive.

Next the baron and everyone else looked at the last page. The baron was really hoping that the affinity and sensitivity grade of his son would be decent.

As soon as he read the information about his affinity, the baron's face became red with anger. His son had mid grade affinity for water element. This made his best "Fire Boost" skill to be quite useless as Corris did not have the fire affinity to take advantage of this skill.

As for his sensitivity, he had both mana and aura sensitivity. His aura sensitivity was E which was bad but fortunately he had C grade mana sensitivity which allowed him to access the inventory. So everything was not a disappointment for his status.

But overall, the baron was not satisfied with the results at all. The look on his face clearly said that.

The priest who went to the stage with Corris guided him down somewhat forcefully while another priest guided the handsome child present beside the beautiful woman on the stage.

Now it was finally time for Alexis to show his brilliance to the world.
