Ch 20: Disaster Class Monster

After hearing this, Alexis became serious and left the room immediately after apologising to the girls for ending their lessons early. The girls understood the seriousness of the situation and did not mind it at all. Instead they asked Alexis to be safe.

After leaving his private study room, Alexis immediately went to the head master's office. He knocked on the door and entered after the serious voice of the headmaster gave him the permission.

From the expression on the head master's face, Alexis judged that he was extremely worried about whatever had happened. But that worried expression lessened a little bit after seeing Alexis.

Other than Alexis, there was another person present in the room. Alexis had not used any sensing abilities before coming here, so he was a bit surprised with the presence of this man.

The man in question was none other than the supreme commander of this nation, Harris Koma. Just like headmaster Brandon, Harris was also a Hero Seed. But his chance of reaching the hero realm was also almost non existent just like Brandon's.

Harris had a skill called "Mindless Berserker". This skill allowed him to increase his stats by a huge margin but in exchange, Harris would not be able to activate any other skills, techniques or magic.

With the activation of this skill, Harris' STR stat could cross the 400 + mark, which belonged to the realm of the heroes. But as he was unable to use anything else but his raw stats in the Mindless Berserker state, any hero, even the weakest one would be able to defeat him easily. And this skill also had a time limit.

That was the reason why Harris had no hopes of reaching the heroic realm. He had tried to use combat techniques and other skills during his berserk state but he had never succeed.

Seeing two of the three strongest people of the nation in the same room, Alexis understood the severity of the situation. So he did not beat around the bush and asked them about it.

At the north of the Octavia Kingdom, there existed a danger zone called the Nirfall Barrens. The essence density in Nirfall Barrens was very high so the amount of monsters getting born there was also higher.

This Nirfall Barrens did not only shared borders with the Octavia Kingdom but also with two of it's neighbours. So those three nations together were managing this place.

The Nirfall Barrens not only had a lot of monsters but they also had many mines filled with valuable metals and minerals. So it was a very resourceful place for all three of the nations even with the presence of a huge amount of monsters.

But just two days ago, suddenly the essence density in the Nirfall Barrens started to increase very suddenly. Before the defense forces situated there could do something about this, many monsters started appearing around their fortresses in high never before seen density.

The soldiers present had immediately asked for reinforcement and Harris himself was planning to go there to assist them. But before he could leave, new news had appeared from the Nirfall Barrens.

A disaster class monster had appeared there and it was advancing toward the fortresses. A disaster class monster was too strong and only people with the combat power of the hero rank could match up to them.

Amongst the three nations who were managing the Nirfall Barrens, only Alexis had the required strength to truly defeat a disaster class monster. Harris had actually challenged Alexis to a battle two year ago and was defeated. So he was aware of the fact that Alexis should be at least strong enough to match a ordinary hero.

So the nations wanted his help in getting rid of the monster. The other two nations had also agreed to reward Alexis for his help. The situation was dire and all the nations were willing to put aside their differences.

After hearing about this, Alexis did not have to think for long and immediately agreed to help them. If he did not intervened, then the fortresses of the Nirfall Barrens would be destroyed and thousands of soldiers would die.

Not only that but there were several villages and cities behind the fortress and those places would also be in immense danger. So as the Archduke of this nation, Alexis wanted to protect them.

Even though Alexis was very cold to people he was not familiar with and did not care much about them, he was not a cruel person in heart. Not only that but this nation had treated him and his mother very well after his awakening, so he was very much willing help it out in the times of need.

So after making his decision, Alexis immediately left the academy and started flying toward the Nirfall Barrens in high speed.

According to what Harris told him, this monster was quite slow so none of the fortresses had been destroyed so far but if Alexis did not hurry, there was a high chance that some of the fortresses would not be able to hold on and fall. So Alexis did his best to hurry as much as he could.

While Alexis was going toward the Nirfall Barrens with haste, the condition of the soldiers there was very dire.

They had already lost one of the fortresses to the monsters. Even without the Disaster Class, the other numbers of other regular monsters was too much for them to handle. The Headmaster and Supreme General did not have the latest information.

Fortunately only a few dozens had lost their lives so far as the fortresses of different nations had worked together to help each other out. But those two remaining fortresses were also on the verge of getting destroyed and then the soldiers would have no place to run to after that.

Not only the big disaster class monster was a big threat but the huge number of other monsters were also extremely dangerous. Currently the disaster class monster was still far away from the two fortresses but from how dire the situation was, it looked like even before it could reach the fortresses, they would already be overrunned by the monster horde.

As the soldiers were about to sink into despair in front of the large horde of monsters, suddenly fire started raining from the sky. It landed on the monsters and killed them immediately. In no time, the snowy landscape of the Nirfall Barrens turned into a scorched wasteland.

The soldiers looked at this scene with dumbfounded faces as the huge number of scary monster who were about to overrun them suddenly disappeared. This sudden turn of event was too much for them.

Then some of the soldiers in look out duty noticed a figure coming down from the sky. After the figure became a little clearer, the soldiers who were part of the Octavia Kingdom started cheering. The reason behind the powerful fire rain also became clear.

The other soldiers also looked at the man coming down from the sky with wonder. He had red dragon wings on his back that looked majestic and his expression was serious and cold.

His black hair flattered in the wind and the people were dumbstruck by his handsome features and aura. Many had a hard time believing that this man was actually just 13 years old. He still had various childlike features but with his serious looks and wisdom filled eyes, anyone would think that he was older with a young looking face.

So just like that, with the appearance of Archduke Alexis Langesior, the dangerous situation in the Nirfall Barrens changed.
