As the weeks went by, Jaxon found himself spending more and more time on music, often at expense of his studies. He'd stay up late into the night practicing guitar or working on new song ideas , and then struggle to wake up for school the next morning.
Despite his best efforts Jaxon's grades began to slip. His parents, who had always been supportive to his music, started to grow a concerned.
"Jaxon we need to talk," his mom said one evening, as they sat for dinner. "Your grades are suffering and we worried that you are not taking your studies seriously enough.
Jaxon sighed feeling defensive. "I am taking my studies seriously, mom. It's just that ....music is important to me too."
His father chimed in."We understand that son, but music is not going to pay bills. You need to focus on your education."
Jaxon felt a surge of frustration. Why didn't his parents understand? Music was his passion, and he was good at it. Why couldn't they just support him.
The next day, Jaxon's teachers started to notice his luck of focuse in class. His maths teacher called him aside after class.
"Jaxon , I have noticed that you have been struggling lately in class. "
Is everything okay?"
Jaxon shrugged, "I don't know. I just can't seem to focus."
His maths teacher advised him to focus only on his studies.Jaxon was not happy about what the teacher said. I want to do great things with music, I will find solution for that.
Later that day, Jaxon's music teacher Mrs. Johnson, sat him down for a talk.
"Jaxon, i know you're passionate about musc," Mrs.Johnson said. "But noticed that your grades are slipping and am worried that you are not taking care of your academic responsibilities."
Jaxon felt a pang of guilt. He knew Mrs. Johnson was right. But he just couldn't seem to tear himself away from music.
"I know Mrs.Johnson," Jaxon said. "I will try to do better."
Mrs.Johnson looked at hm sternly, "see that you do Jaxon, you have a lot of potential, but you need to learn to balance your music with your studies."
Jaxon felt a knot in his stomach. He knew he needed to make some changes, but didn't know where to start.
As he walked home from school that day, Jaxon felt lost and uncertain, he knew he needed to take his studies serious but he couldn't help feeling that music was his true calling.
As days went by, Jaxon's struggles to balance music and studies only intensified.
He would found himself hummus melodies during maths class or scribbling down lyrics in the margins of his note.
His parents, though supportive of his music, grew increasingly worried about his academic performance."Jaxon , you need to focus ," his dad would say. "Music is great , but it's not going to pay the bills.
Jaxon knew they were right but he couldn't help feeling like a part him was being stifled.Music was his escape, his passion. Without the music he felt lost and unfulfilled.
