Chapter 234: The Fat Princess's Matchmaking Mission
Asura opened the reply. After roughly a minute, he let out a deep sigh. "Brother still has that temper... stubborn, too stubborn. So many years have passed, why can't he understand? ...Child, would you be willing to deliver a letter for me again?"
What was there to even think about? A continuous mission! Accept!
"No problem."
She took another bundle of "letter" that Asura handed her. It seemed slightly larger than the previous one. She had nothing to say about it; it was just about repeatedly building up rapport, she figured. She couldn't reach his father yet, so she'd start by working on the son.
The "letter" Ino had previously delivered contained Asura's chakra, and naturally, the reply contained Indra's chakra as the response. After Asura read the reply from his elder brother, the remaining Indra chakra lost its original effect and became useless. Asura had been dead for so many years; his body had turned to ash. He no longer sought the so-called myriad phenomena. This Indra chakra was useless to him, so he simply gave it to Ino to do with as she pleased.
"I feel my reincarnation has been very confused recently," Asura asked. "You're his friend, aren't you? Did something happen to him?"
How should she explain this? Ino hesitated.
Asura, in the tone of someone who had been through it all, inquired, "Is it family issues? Problems with parents or siblings? Or is it issues with the ninjutsu currently circulating outside?"
Ino felt it was truly impossible to keep it a secret any longer. Thinking of the books Naruto had been looking at before he "fainted," she whispered, "It's a problem with trigonometry."
"What?" Asura clearly didn't understand. "A tree? Triangle cold tree? Did he, like Hashirama, awaken the Wood Style Kekkei Genkai?"
Ino was speechless.
She explained succinctly that this "shu" (数 - number) was not that "shu" (树 - tree).
Asura listened with a bewildered expression. This problem seemed a bit too profound; he felt he probably, perhaps, couldn't help. To save face, he put on a look of sudden realization. "Ah?! Hahaha, I understand, I understand this... This is, well, uh... this is his own personal struggle. It's not that I can't help, but it's truly inappropriate to intervene now. After all, I'm already dead! It seems he can only rely on himself!"
Ino squinted at him without saying a word. Second Brother, her eyes conveyed, no need to pretend. I can see it. You're illiterate too!
Ino's consciousness returned to reality. Seeing the deep red Tailed Beast chakra rising around Naruto's body, she knew that Classmate Kurama the Nine-Tails was angry because she had ignored him. She used Flower Style to bind Naruto like a zongzi, suppressing the Tailed Beast and also absorbing and sealing some of the Nine-Tails' chakra.
Only then did she have time to examine the Indra chakra she had received by delivering the "letter." To use a slightly inappropriate analogy, if the First Hokage had previously injected her with C-rank Asura gene optimization fluid, she had now received E-rank Indra gene optimization fluid. Compared to that tiny bit of chakra she'd sponged off Sasuke before, which didn't even have a rank, her own genes now had a rank in the Indra aspect! Both types of chakra were working to correct and optimize her genes after birth.
Had her genes improved? Yes, they had! Improved by how much? Don't know!
Ino softly mumbled "myriad phenomena" to herself. Living in a world of eye legends, it would be fake to say she wasn't interested in the Sharingan or Rinnegan. However, this path was simply too difficult for an outsider like her. Unless she went and killed Sasuke right now, absorbed all of his Indra chakra, and then defeated the enraged Sage of Six Paths... but if she had that kind of power, what would be the point of coveting Indra's chakra?
Because Indra was the son of a sage, he possessed the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan without needing gene completion. The only others who reached that level were Madara and Sasuke, making a total of three. Among mortals, only one and a half reached the Rinnegan level: Madara and half of Sasuke. Even Indra himself didn't have the Rinnegan. The Sage of Six Paths' Rinnegan didn't count; although he didn't register his household with the Otsutsuki side, he was a true and undisputed member of the Otsutsuki clan. His wife was human, so his sons, Indra and Asura, were not members of the Otsutsuki clan. These two brothers could actually be considered half-sages in terms of life essence. After them, the boundary between sage and mortal became very clear, with the level of the descendants continuously declining and their bloodline becoming thinner and thinner.
For Ino, rather than pressing forward under a heavy burden, always wandering within the circle of mortals, it was better to pursue the enhancement of her life essence – studying Yin Release and Yang Release, fusing them into Yin-Yang Release, researching how to truly merge Asura's and Indra's chakra, pursuing a true Sage's Body, and then waiting for the right opportunity to seek more changes.
Ultimately, compared to the naturally transcendent Otsutsuki clan, ninjas were still too weak.
The next day, Naruto sat up groggily. He had slept very well last night; his mind hadn't been preoccupied with those complex formulas and theorems. He felt like his body was two points lighter upon waking up today. Ino had told him he was tired from studying, but he hadn't taken it seriously.
Arriving in the Land of Wheat, she met Princess Fuku, who bore a slight resemblance to Ino, about two or three parts, but was fully three sizes bigger. Even though Ino had anticipated it, seeing Princess Fuku, the fat princess, so abruptly still made three black lines appear on her forehead.
Naruto, being straightforward, looked at Ino, then at the larger-than-life figure seated on the platform, and burst out laughing, clearly in high spirits.
Princess Fuku wanted Ino to take her place at the matchmaking meeting. She liked the prince from the neighboring Land of Noodles, but she explained that she had been worrying about state affairs recently and was unable to sleep at night, which was why she had gained just a tiny bit of weight more than usual. Ino was indifferent to her explanation. Say whatever you want, she thought, I'm just doing the mission; whatever you say goes.
She told Naruto to go find a place to play by himself, then followed the princess's attendants to change clothes. A princess definitely couldn't dress in a crop top, ninja pants, and sandals. The attendants quickly did her makeup, then her hair, and finally dressed her in an extremely thick, armor-like Junihitoe. Even with Ino's current Strength stat of 5 points, wearing this "set equipment" still felt incredibly heavy.
To show off your wealth, did you take all the silk from the storeroom to make this outfit?! The layers were dense, one on top of another: the single layer, the five-layer robe, the Uchigi, the Uwagari, the Karaginu. All of them together weighed a full twenty kilograms. Sitting down anywhere felt like carrying a mountain on her back! No wonder Princess Fuku liked to eat; constantly wearing these clothes, with good food and no exercise, it would be a miracle if she could lose weight.
Ino rejected Naruto's suggestion of using the Transformation Jutsu to turn into her and impersonate the princess for the matchmaking. My dear esteemed Naruto, she thought, please don't make things more complicated for me. Not needed!
At noon, she met the prince from the Land of Noodles who had come from afar for the matchmaking meeting – a flexible fat person. The fat prince was good at singing and dancing. As his attendants started the beat, he performed a dance version of the Eight Trigrams Palm Rotation on the spot, looking like a Neji who was three sizes bigger.
