Chapter 235: Ino and the Rasengan

Chapter 235: Ino and the Rasengan

Ino maintained her facade, nodding occasionally and clapping lightly, effectively getting through this arranged meeting. A princess and a prince, mutually interested and both... large, coming together seemed perfectly normal.

The Land of Wheat was simply too small; though called a country, it was actually just a few modest mountain villages. Princess Fuku seemed quite simple-minded, and in truth... she really was quite simple-minded. Ino enjoyed making friends with this kind of person; it took no effort at all, and she and Princess Fuku became good friends. This was just a straightforward plus-sized girl with no hidden agenda.

An arranged marriage mission couldn't be completed in one go; they would need to meet at least three or four times before things could be finalized. Moreover, Ino couldn't keep using her own face for the meetings; how awkward would it be when the real princess showed up later? As a ninja, she had excellent professional ethics and wouldn't let her employer suffer any disadvantage.

So, she proposed a strategy of gradually boiling the frog in warm water. For each meeting, she would use the Transformation Jutsu to make herself appear slightly plumper. A little plumper this time, a little plumper the next. After three or four meetings, even if Princess Fuku herself stepped in, it wouldn't seem too abrupt.

The fat prince's courtship offensive was very practical. The first time, he sent dozens of pounds of pork. The second time, he sent a large quantity of rice. The third time, it was more meat... In Ino's view, forget about princes and princesses; this was just the love story of two wealthy families from the countryside.

When the fat prince came over, she would wear the full princess attire and smile as she watched the plump prince from the Land of Noodles dance and strike poses.

When she wasn't busy, she would start pondering the matter of Yin-Yang Release.

Difficult!

Strictly speaking, the fusion of Yin Release and Yang Release into Yin-Yang Release should also count as a type of Kekkei Genkai. However, these two chakra natures were inherently opposed, making fusion seem simply impossible.

What should she do?

Ino changed back into her own clothes and strolled around Princess Fuku's courtyard. As she walked, she saw Naruto training. She considered avoiding him, but then she suddenly saw the Rasengan in Naruto's hand, and an idea popped into her mind. Perhaps this non-elemental ninjutsu, the Rasengan, could be used to fuse Yin Release and Yang Release? One side is Yin Release, the other is Yang Release, then spin them rapidly. Initially, their speeds are the same, so they don't touch each other, but as they spin more and more, would the more elusive Yin Release eventually come into contact with the relatively heavier Yang Release?

She called out, "Naruto?"

Naruto turned around.

"What kind of ninjutsu is that? It doesn't even require hand seals?" Ino put on a surprised expression.

Her expression satisfied Naruto's vanity. Naruto also had no sense of keeping it a secret, nor did he think this technique needed to be confidential. He said cheerfully, "This is a ninjutsu the Pervy Sage taught me! It's called the Rasengan!"

"Can you teach me?"

"Sure!"

Naruto began teaching Ino the Rasengan. One minute later, Ino was completely exasperated.

"The first element is rotation, the second is explosive power, and the third element is... is a certain kill!" Naruto, teaching for the first time, was full of motivation. He got several water balloons from Princess Fuku. Then, he popped one on the spot and said solemnly to Ino, "Just like this, bang and pop the water balloon! Then you've completed the first step of training! Isn't it simple?"

There were no key points, no techniques, absolutely nothing! From beginning to end, there were only two onomatopoeic sounds. At least, Ino didn't hear anything related to ninjutsu training besides these "bang" and "pop" sounds.

"Didn't understand? It's like this, just bang and pop the water balloon! It's so simple!" Naruto was full of a sense of accomplishment at being able to teach a genius of his generation.

Ino had a speechless expression. Under your esteemed teaching, Konohamaru could actually learn the Rasengan? He's truly a genius! Maybe it's because they're both called "Maru"?

"Show me once, and I'll carefully perceive it," she told Naruto, having him use the Rasengan. Then she used Perception Transfer. To her surprise, she found there was nothing related to the Rasengan in Naruto's brain! No knowledge, no techniques, no insights, nothing! This guy relies on muscle memory!

Ino then tried using the Mind Transfer Jutsu to occupy his body, but it still didn't work. The Nine-Tails kept messing with her; she couldn't extract any chakra at all. If there was no chakra, how the hell could she make a Rasengan?

She tried a few underhanded tricks but found that nothing seemed to get through to Naruto. Getting ninjutsu knowledge from him was even more difficult than acquiring a Kekkei Genkai.

Fine, you just chill for now. I'll train myself!

The Rasengan was the pinnacle of chakra shape transformation. The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, took three years to develop this jutsu. In his era, it was wartime, and he also had to manage romance and train students. It was understandable that it took him three years to research and develop the Rasengan from scratch. Jiraiya boasted that he learned the Rasengan in three days, while Naruto should have taken twelve days to learn it.

Ino's talent was not much worse than Jiraiya's, and the Rasengan wasn't some kind of ninjutsu that only idiots could learn and smart people couldn't. She watched Naruto use it three times, then trained herself. Those before her had already summarized the steps on how to train this jutsu; Ino just needed to follow them.

She immediately created fifty Shadow Clones and began the first step of chakra rotation training with water balloons. By the evening of the first day, she had mastered popping the water balloon. By noon of the second day, she had mastered popping the rubber ball. By nearly midnight on the third day, she finally managed to maintain a chakra vortex like a small typhoon. It took another two days to thoroughly solidify the jutsu and make it her own. Calculating it, it took five days, still a bit slower than Jiraiya.

Although Naruto was a terrible teacher, he did ultimately teach her. Altogether, Ino had Naruto demonstrate the Rasengan over twenty times. She wasn't Kakashi; she couldn't just free-load this ninjutsu.

Seeing Naruto energetically kneading his Rasengan, she said, "I don't know if the Hokage taught you more about the Rasengan, but in my opinion, this jutsu is still a half-finished product, far from being complete."

Ino's chakra control ability was much stronger than Naruto's; she didn't need Shadow Clones to help knead it. With a flick of her wrist, a faint blue chakra sphere began to rotate in her palm.

Naruto looked over, waiting for her to continue.

Ino went on, "Actually, you can increase your chakra output on the existing foundation, compress the chakra, and simultaneously speed up the rotation to create a larger Rasengan. This path should be very suitable for you. I'll call this type of Rasengan the Oodama Rasengan!"

Seeing that Naruto seemed about to ask a question, she quickly reminded him, "If you ask me what chakra is, I'll kill you right now!"

In Ino's view, the Wind Style: Rasenshuriken that Kakashi helped Naruto train in wasn't wrong in its underlying concept, but it didn't fit Naruto's actual situation at the time. The path Jiraiya arranged for Naruto – the Rasengan, Oodama Rasengan, Cho Oodama Rasengan, and later Sage Art: Rasengan – that was the correct route. Unfortunately, Jiraiya died at that time.
