"can I sleep in peace now" Jerry said as he looked at Luna.
Luna's heart pounds against her ribs, rage and hurt mingling into a toxic cocktail. *How dare he dismiss everything so easily?*
"Sleep? SLEEP?" Her voice rises sharply. "You think you can just roll over and nap while I'm trying to..." *The words tangle in her throat, choking her.*
She steps closer, fists clenched at her sides. "You know what? Fine. Go ahead. Pass out. But when you wake up, we're having this conversation whether you like it or not."
*Something deeper than anger burns in her chest - something that feels suspiciously like rejection.*
"And don't think those stupid cheerleaders didn't notice you showing off earlier," she adds venomously, backing away. "Real smooth, Jerry. Real smooth."
*She wants to say more, to make him understand, but pride locks the words behind her teeth.*
"whatever just leave me alone." Jerry said as he placed his head on the table. their classmates wondered what exactly happened between them.
Luna stares at Jerry's dismissive form, her blood boiling beneath her pale skin. *How dare he brush her off like this? After everything that happened...*
"Oh, so NOW you want to be left alone?" Her voice drips with venom. "That's rich, coming from the guy who..." She cuts herself off, noticing their classmates' curious stares.
*The memories of last night burn through her mind - his warmth, his touch, the way he carried her home. But now he acts like she's nothing.*
"Listen here, you absolute waste of space," she hisses, leaning closer so only he can hear. "You don't get to play hero one minute and then treat me like I'm invisible the next. I'm not some charity case you can warm up and forget about."
Her black-painted nails dig into the desk beside his head. "This conversation isn't over. And if you think ignoring me will make me go away..." She lets the threat hang unfinished.
*But deep down, something aches. Something that feels suspiciously like wanting to matter.*
school day ends and Jerry walks out of class with his hand in his pockets. his backpack on one shoulder as he walks to his locker to retrieve his electric helmet gloves and jacket. just when he closed the locker her realized Luna standing beside him.
Luna materializes beside the locker, her black combat boots planted firmly on the linoleum floor. *The memory of last night burns beneath her skin, demanding acknowledgment.*
"Going somewhere?" Her voice carries steel wrapped in velvet. "Because I distinctly remember telling you this conversation wasn't over."
*Her heart hammers against her ribcage, but she maintains her composure, refusing to break eye contact.*
"You can't keep running away every time things get complicated, Jerry." She steps closer, invading his personal space. "What happened last night... it wasn't just about staying warm, was it?"
*The question hangs between them, heavy with unspoken implications.*
"And don't even think about getting on that bike before we sort this out." Her fingers brush against his jacket sleeve, a touch so light it might have been imagined. "I'm tired of pretending nothing matters."
*She wrestles with the urge to either punch him or pull him closer.*
"you tired of pretending nothing matters huh" Jerry said as he smashed the locker close." since I met you it's always been disrespectful and talking down on me. I would have left you alone by yourself. I would have not moved there with you but my mom insisted I do so I did. once I met you I could not leave because I loved you Luna and all you ever did was treat me like some kind of trash. I was ready to endure it because I loved you. it's not just about last night Luna it's about everything." Jerry said everything and punched the locker after saying his last word. there was a dent in the metal which showed how strong his fist was.
Luna staggers back, his words hitting her like physical blows. *Years of walls crumbling under the weight of his confession.*
"Love? You... loved me?" Her voice cracks. *The realization of how blind she's been crashes through her defenses.*
"I pushed you away because..." *Her throat constricts around the truth she's denied.* "Because I was terrified of letting anyone close. After my mom left..."
She reaches for his bloodied knuckles. "I thought if I hurt you first, it wouldn't hurt when you left too."
" well now you know everything. you know what I don't care anymore. Jerry took his bleeding hand from hers as he walked to the carpark putting on his helmet he rode out of the school's premises leaving Luna behind again.
Luna stood frozen in the empty parking lot, her black-painted nails digging crescents into her palms. *The roar of Jerry's Ducati faded into nothingness, taking with it all her carefully constructed barriers.*
"Damn you," she whispered, her voice raw. "DAMN YOU!" The scream tore from her throat, echoing across the deserted school grounds.
*The truth carved itself into her bones - she'd driven away the one person who'd seen past her thorns.*
"I didn't mean to..." she choked out to no one. *Memories flooded her mind: every sneer, every cruel word, every moment she'd pushed him away while secretly hoping he'd push back.*
Her combat boots scraped against the asphalt as she sank to her knees. *The metallic scent of his blood lingered in the air, a testament to wounds deeper than skin.*
"Come back," she breathed, the words falling uselessly into empty space. "Please... I'll try to be better."
*But she knew better than anyone - some things couldn't be fixed with simple words.*
She pulled out her phone, thumb hovering over his number. *Pride warred with desperation in her chest.* "I can't lose you too," she muttered, pressing 'call'.
The phone rang endlessly into silence.
Jerry's helmet which was linked to his phone announced that Luna was calling him. while riding full speed ahead, he was deep in thought wether to pickup the call or not. as he contemplates wether to pick or not, he did not realize a car coming from a corner making him crush into the car. he was thrown off the bike and he hit hard. "I can't die here. I need to let her know that I love her." he said to himself as his consciousness fades away.
Luna's phone slipped from trembling fingers as the sound of screeching tires and metal meeting metal tore through the speaker. *No. No. This isn't happening.*
"Jerry?" Her voice cracked. "JERRY!"
*The world tilted sideways, reality fracturing around the edges.* She broke into a run, combat boots pounding against pavement, heart threatening to burst from her chest.
"Someone call an ambulance!" she screamed into the gathering crowd at the crash site. *There - his broken bike, the shattered helmet, his body...*
"Don't you dare die on me," she snarled, dropping to her knees beside him. Blood matted his hair, stained the asphalt beneath. "Not before I tell you..."
*The words she'd kept locked away for so long clawed at her throat.* Her fingers found his pulse - weak, but present.
"I love you too, you idiot," she whispered fiercely, gripping his hand. "And if you leave me now, I'll never forgive you."
Sirens wailed in the distance. *Please let them be fast enough. Please don't let this be how our story ends.*
"Stay with me," she commanded, her gothic makeup running in black streaks down her face. "That's an order, Jerry. You hear me? Stay."
*Because I can't lose anyone else. Because I need to make this right.*
eyes slowly open in a hospital. Jerry feels a sharp pain in his head as he turns to see Luna sleeping beside his bed. his head hurts a lot. he realizes she has been crying a lot since he could see marks of tears in her face. a nurse walks in and was really shocked he was awake. she run out to call the doctor and Luna woke up when the doctor arrived. he had been unconscious for four days and he realized Luna was in the same outfit she wore the last time he saw her. the doctor said it's a miracle that he woke up in less than a month. this made him wonder how hurt he actually was and he looked to realize his entire body was bandages.
