Chapter 12: Continuing on the events

Two weeks had gone by since the failure of a mission. Behind the manor Solan kept training, reflecting back to the failed mission.

--Thrust!--

Solan clenched his spear tightly, thrusting it into a rock boulder.

With one last thrust the spear head shattered and the butler attending his session took his spear and gave him a new one.

"...Here you go Solan...". The butler said before throwing the broken spear into a huge pile of previous broken spears.

Solan had dedicated himself into learning the spear no matter what. He kept thrusting everyday since then and was shedding sweat and blood.

"...I need to become stronger...". He thought to himself, looking at the shining spear head of the new spear. Clenching it hard one more time he remembered too back when his master was hurt and now had a broken arm.

Marine Research facility

"....We heard your request admiral Kesak...". A tall and lean man spoke. His hair dark brown wearing round glasses. His hair was long brown and he carried a very elegant presence.

[Research leader: Trevon Tek]

Sarah walked beside him, walking through the facility. It was crowded with other researchers similar to Trevon walking back and forth with stacks of papers in hand. The research facility was really a working place with every member participating in the development of technology.

The research facility was known for their unique creation of Leviathan's slayers. The type of weapon which could be imbued with the tiniest drop of a elder's blood. These weapons could use a vessel's power which made them sought after and expensive. But of course, the weapons were nothing like those who could control it at will.

Sarah was silent, her stoic expressions never wavering when she was in public.

"...My request was rather absurd wasn't it? Did you really call for me to tell that everything's complete?". She said chuckling in a amused way.

"...Of course Admiral Kesak... If we get a request from an admiral such as yourself then our role as researchers and manufacturers are to abide by the request...". He said. Continuing to walk the never-ending hallway, eventually at some point they arrived at their destination. A door that led to Trevon's working area.

Entering the room Sarah was met with the sight of hundreds, no probably more artifacts sitting tidy organized around the white room. Things ranging from armor, pistols, leviathan parts and most importantly... vases of elder beast blood.

Trevon approached one of his bigger shelves grabbing a case of some kind. Placing it on his workbench he opened it up for Sarah to see.

"This is what you requested right... A pair of bracelets to suppress a vessel...".

The bracelets were laced in a black-Green color. A serpent as its sigil mark around each bracelet.

"...Yes, though... I find it hard to believe that you managed to do this in such short time...". She asked, gazing towards Trevon suspiciously.

Trevon lightly chuckled before answering her suspicion.

"...I can't really tell you how I made those, but I'll let you know... that they work, no doubt...".

Sarah kept silent and just stared at him. Thinking about what kind of person Trevon was.

Trevon was the leader of the research facility, personally recommended by the master Lumine. He came from the mainland of Daimon. Belonging to a fallen household who were experts in general technology. He was a rather sly person but it was overlooked due to his incredible skills to make Leviathan-related artifacts for the marine. In fact, her current sword 'Cloud splitter' which could imbued her lighting vessel without restriction. And of course it was made by Trevon.

"...I used the parts of a Riddle-back leviathan... they will stay durable for at least a decade to come".

Sarah took the bracelets before turning her back to him.

"The Lighting division will send you the payment... thanks for making these in fast...".

Trevon bowed down elegantly before saying

"Its my pleasure Admiral Kesak...".

Sarah really didn't like Trevon, the way he spoke and carried himself really made her itch herself. But she would have to admit that Trevon was a genius even if she didn't show it.

After a long day of usual training. Solan sat on his bed meditating.

"..Solan~ Solaaan~"

Ever since Solan used his vessel to stop the flying boulder the echoes in his head had been constantly ringing. An eerie inhumane repeating his name ever since. He was told that meditation could help with reducing any anxiety that came his way... hoping it would help with the echoes in his head.

"Tch... So annoying...".

Every now and then Solan would get a surge of memories that didn't belong to him ending up vomiting occasionally.

Sitting up from bed Solan stretched out his body. He had been sitting there for a while waiting for his master Sarah to return home.

--Knock knock knock--

Three knocks came from the door, the usual sign that it was his master.

"Come in" Solan spoke up looking at the door opening up.

Sarah entered the room before noticing the metal bucket beside his bed.

"...The usual?"

"...yes" Solan answered simply.

She approached him before getting something from her pockets.

"...Here, I brought a gift for you....". She placed a pair of bracelets by the desk beside his bed.

"A gift? is it a souvenir?"

"Heh... You could say that....".

"...I brought them from the research facility, they are Levithan graded artifacts... according to Trev- The leader of the research facility it should help with the voices ongoing in your head... no more vomiting I hope so...".

Solan took the the pair onto his hand inspecting it closely. A metal bracelet with a light green outline.

"...They were pretty darn expensive...". She sighed in a bit regret.

"...Then why would you even buy it?"

Sarah looked at Solan with a caring look, almost motherly if some can say that.

"..Because I care for you alright?... If it can help you control your horrifying vessel then I'll do anything".

Solan could see the sincere expression before hugging her.

"...Thanks...".

Sarah was a bit surprised and shortly hugged him back with loving warmth.

"...Here, let me help you put these on". She said taking one of the bracelets and placing them on his wrist.

Sarah had some questions in mind, and couldn't help but ask Solan

"...Solan, your not schizophrenic right?"

":...Schizophrenic? what's that?".

"..Ah, You don't know.... Well, even if you get it I was just joking...". She said before finishing her task in hand.

The bracelets settled comfortable on his wrist and raising his hands he watched them in awe.

To Solan's surprise the echoes went silent immediately. It was quiet for once. He took the moment enjoying the silence finally. It felt amazing and Sarah who noticed his faraway expression she smiled happily.

Sarah placed a gentle hand on his hair.

"...Solan, thank you for saving the crew back then... I forgot to tell you... But I'm proud of you". Her smile was genuine, like how a mother would look at their son after achieving something big.

Solan was a bit surprised, his face reddened a bit but gained his composure with a smile.

"...My division is grateful for what you did back then... and they tell me they cannot wait until next time we get deployed and have you join along...". Her voice soft and soothing.

Solan felt a bit warm in his body. Solan hadn't felt this ever since he lost his father, he didn't dislike the feeling at all.. in fact, he loved it.

"...Then I will become stronger... So that you can even become more prouder!".

Sarah chuckled before standing up taking her leave.

"...I'll have to return to the paper work Solan... Even when I have a broken arm Lumine still makes me do this crap...". She sighed.

"...Alright... Thank you for the gift master!"

She smiled and as she left and closed the door behind her Solan's expression darkened. He stood up from the bed and approached the window behind his desk. Overlooking the towns of Soldat, gleaming under the moon floating above the clouds.

"...It feels so empty..".

He told himself gazing in a daze. His eyes empty of any thoughts. Nothing sat right with him, a presence that felt the reality of his current state.

In the end, Solan was here to complete his dream. To exterminate all of the leviathans no matter what. He knew Sarah was helping him to become stronger due to immense potential he had. Solan wasn't arrogant but the vessel he possessed was chaotic and destructive, something that he would have to continue too use until his early death.
