Journey

A.P.I or Advanced Psychological Institut. It was a laboratory that became famous those past years. Their main focus: Researches on the different types of personalities. No. Not the ones that can you find on a random test on the net. The real ones. The one showing truly who you were. What you were. What was in your mind. Their work was of high quality, respected but above all: Secret. No one knew what was happening except that all the things they've done for the psychology those past years, were remarkable. They were good, it was to admit. Sometimes they were even too good...

It was in a medium size room, made of white walls and lights. Typical laboratory room, kind of classic. In there, few workers of the Institut were already working on those sophisticated computers. All dressed with a distinguishable white jacket and the emblem of the Institut on it: A.P.I. Next to one of the scientist, Ma'am Lynch. An woman aged of forty years old, dark brown hair and eyes. She had a serious expression living on her face, kind of a little bit mysterious too. The woman was dressed with the same jacket than the rest of the scientists. The only difference, a word above her name: C.E.O. She was the boss and the one running the very last project that they were about to launch.

"Where are we?" She asked, leaning to one of the scientist to look better at his computer's information.

"They should arrive soon." Declared the man.

"Perfect."On those words, Lynch left the room, leading to her own office. After having passed few hallways, the big glassy doors opened themselves to let the woman enter the medium size room also made of white walls. A big desk and chair stood in the back, in front of the back windows that were giving on the city. Everything looked sophisticated, luxurious to not lie but mostly it was sure that white was their favorite color. Lynch took place ar her chair quickly. She had only the time to give a look to her folders that the doors reopened.

"Yes." She simply answered not raising up her eyes from her paperwork.A man, probably around fifty, gray hair and light blue eyes entered. He was dressed in suit, which change from the rest of the scientists. Obvious, because he wasn't one. He was the partner of Lynch for their researches. But in contrary to her, he was more at ease with the financial side of the Institut.

"Lynch." Declared the man from a calm voice. "I wanted to talk with you about the project."

"They'll arrive soon. What do you need, Ross" Asked the woman, raising up her eyes to him.

"Well, I've looked at the file and... they seemed to have pretty much different types of personalities."

"They do, indeed.""Are you sure to put all of them together?" Asked the man, concerned for some reason.

"They accepted to participate in this project. This will be a huge springboard for our Institut."Ross looked doubtful. He fully was. Something was bothering him and it wasn't only based on those personalities. Except maybe one in particular...

"Understood." He replied, knowing that he couldn't really contradict Lynch since she was the head of this whole Institut. On this quick conversation, Ross left the office, hoping only for one thing. That everything goes well.

Only few minutes after, Lynch landed at the entry hall of the Institut where the five applicants arrived.

"Welcome everyone. " Declared the woman with the most happiest smile in the world. "Please follow me."

On those words, the five young adults followed Lynch without asking one question. Quickly, they arrived in a medium size room where they took place at the tables while the woman led to the electronic board that she turned on.

"As you know it, our Institut is known for its researches around the different types of personalities." She declared while analysis and other scientific researches appearing on the board. "With all of this, we have discovered over the years many different types of personalities, all being more interesting than the others. Which is why, from today we have decided to launch our new project. Project that will consist to make you live an unforgettable experience." She paused for a quick moment. "You all have five very different personalities and we want to analyze how you can interact between each other while living together."

"Living together?" Took back the redhead boy of the group.

"Yes. This project for which you accepted to participate in, consist of making you live together for an entire year."

"So we just need to live together and that's all? Nothing more to do. No special exercises or else?" Asked the tanned skin boy, looking as the oldest one among the group of teenagers.

"No, there is no special exercises to do. You will live in the same house, a big house, be reassured. You will go to the same school and will have the same subjects. You will be together twenty-four hours, seven days a week and this for a whole year. As you may be aware of it, A.P.I has few schools around the country, you will attend one of those during this project."

"And what about our families?" Asked the blonde girl of the group.

"You will be able to see them for a short period of vacation. Different than the ones that you've known until now."

"Were will it be?" Replied the other girl before her slanting eyes met the ones of Lynch.

"It will depends according to your lessons at school. But don't worry, you will see them." Answered the woman by trying to reassure the group. "This project is very important. Nothing can come interfere with it. You've signed for it, you have to engage with the rules."After a quick recap, they all came back to their respective families to pack up their stuff and say goodbye to them before finally entering the project.

****

At few hours of road from the Institut, Calvin, the eldest from the group, was packing up his stuff with two friends.

"So it's true? You accepted?" Asked one of them.

"Yeah, I thought that it could be great." Answered the man while packing up his stuff carefully.

"I find this stupid." Replied another.

"Living with strangers for a year? Sounds like an horror movie, man."

"It's only a project." Reassured Calvin. "And isn't it our meetings work? We don't know each other, talk, try to do things together and see how it goes. It's been years that A.P.I is here now and their researches are quite popular."

"Yeah but until now it was only going to one of their school, not forcing people to live with strangers for an entire year."

"Listen guys, I know what I'm doing. I got a good feeling about this, okay?"

Calvin's friends exchanged a look, not that convinced. But what could they say? He was sure of himself.

****

"What will you do if you don't get along with one of them?" Asked a girl to Flora, the blonde girl from the group of applicants.

"Nothing." She answered, while closing her luggage.

"Nothing?"

"What do you want me to do? Kill one of them?"

Her friend laughed. Always with the same humor. Yeah, humor...

Somewhere else in the city, it was Shawn, the redhead boy who was already leaving his student apartment, while having his mom at the phone.

"Yeah, mom I gotta go." He declared before waiting for the car that was supposed to take him to the Institut."I can't even say goodbye?"

"Mom, I'm already at two hours from home. You're not gonna come here just to tell me goodbye. It's just a year, chill."

"You're still my boy."

"Who's twenty years old."

"Still applies!"

"Okay, okay, whatever. Look, the car's here." Said Shawn when at the same time the car of the Institut arrived. "I gotta go. Love you, see you in a year. Don't stress. I'm good, it'll be good, love ya'!"

"Be safe!"

"Sure, sure!" He finished before hanging up and entering the car.

Iris was also finally ready to go. But before to do so, a sweet goodbye to her parents was needed.

"I don't like this project." Declared her dad, worried.

"It's just a year."

"Are you sure about this?" Questioned her mom.

"You know I like everything around science. It's gonna be a great experience."

"Take care of yourself, honey."

"Promise."

"We love you."

"Love you too." She said before hugging her parents. After that, the girl took her stuff and left the house, addressing a big smile to her mom and dad. All of the applicants were taken to the Institut where they joined back. Luggage with them, they were ready to embark on this journey.
