Inside the black car, kind of a limousine, the applicants were all silent. Still not knowing each other, they didn't know what to say. But even if all exchanged looks, only one of them didn't. Nolan. The dark haired boy, pale skin and icy blue eyes, preferred to look through the window. He was the only one who didn't address one look to the rest of the applicants. He was always in his mind. After around one hour of road, they arrived at destination. Coming out from the car, they all discovered a big house, some sort of mansion. It was a modern mansion, as those of celebrities. Without waiting more, the group of five entered the house, led by an employee of the Institut. Inside, a big hall with two stairs in an arc of circle welcomed them. It was all white, with luxurious stuff. Way too fancy for young adults. All were surprised, never they thought that they would live in such a gorgeous place. Deeply, they were liking it. Especially Shawn who found another interest in accepting to participate to this project.
"The school you'll attend is at fifteen minutes of walk from the house." Declared the employee.
"If you need anything, don't hesitate to call us with the emergency phone. There is few of them all around the house."
"Why should we need that?" Asked Flora.
"Simple security measures."
The girl frowned, not that convinced.
"The rooms are upstairs." Took back the woman. "You can choose which one you want. As for the rest of the house, we like to let you the freedom to discover it by yourselves. It is part of the project." She paused quickly. "Well, the principal has been said. I let you meet each other and don't be late for class tomorrow, eight o'clock. Have a good day and enjoy this project." She finished, smile on her face before leaving the mansion as soon as she entered. The door closed behind her, letting a silence took place. The group of five exchanged multiple looks, not so sure about what to do right now.
"Well looks like it's time for presentation." Declared Calvin. The silence still reigned despite the man's first try. "Okay." He took back. "My name's Calvin, I'm twenty-one years old." He tried, presenting himself with the least awkward way of doing it.
"I'm Iris." Followed the girl. "I turned nineteen recently."
"Is this some kind of birthday gift this project?" Asked Shawn, joking.
"Not really. More my science curiosity that wanted to discover more."
Shawn exchanged a look with Iris. He already liked her personality.
"Well I'm Shawn. Twenty years old and all I like is having fun."
"Not the best intro." Intervened Flora.
"But an honest one." Replied the boy with a smile. The blonde girl rolled up her eyes. She was not a fan of people being funny in every situation.
"I'm Flora." She said.
"That's all? Nothing more?" Questioned the redhead hair man.
"Don't worry, you'll have an entire year to discover me." She answered, sarcastic. Shawn smiled. He also liked her. But more because he knew that he could annoy her. As four of them presented themselves, they all turned to the very last person. Nolan. The boy crossed everyone's eyes, but wasn't ready to talk.
"What about you bosom buddy?" Questioned Shawn to him. But Nolan answered nothing. He didn't even react. Instead, he preferred to lead straight to the stairs, to go to his bedroom. The rest of the group got surprised.
"Okay..." Sighed the redhead boy.Despite this sudden move of Nolan, the rest led also to their bedroom. All were medium size but it did look more like hotel room than simple bedroom. Stuff of quality everywhere, even their own TV, bathroom included and much more. Maybe a little bit too much for a bedroom. The group of five didn't waste any time in their bedroom before joining back and making a tour of the whole mansion. It was so big that they had to find their marks. Walking in the hallways, the group discovered multiple rooms all being pretty different than the other. There was a library, an arcade room, relaxation room and even a giant pool, which surprised in the good way Shawn. After their quick tour, they went back to the hall.
"They for sure didn't go soft on the means." Declared Flora.
"Which is cool for us." Replied Shawn with a smile. As the group was discussing, a sudden noise was heard. They all turned to it. It came from the mailbox. Instinctively, Calvin went to take a look at it. Inside, a letter and a little box. He took both. Giving the box to one of his new mate, he opened the letter to read it.
"Dear applicants, A.P.I is glad to have you with us on the very first launch of this new project. During this year, you will create bounds and live many different things together. We hope on your cooperation to make this project be fruitful. Your participation is the beginning of a new era in the science of psychology. We wish you the best year. Sincerely, A.P.I''
The group shared a quick look, not sure what to think about this letter. Then, Flora opened the box. Inside, five bracelets, a little bit like those modern watch for fitness, stood.
"Bracelets?" Declared Shawn, intrigued and also confused.
"It looks more like fitness watch." Replied Iris by grabbing one of them and observing it for a quick moment. "Definitively is. They're mainly made to check our pulse and vital functions."
"That's a little bit weird." Intervened Flora, not convinced.
"I see it as something reassuring." Answered Calvin. "It means that they're always having news on us."
Despite the man's words, the blonde girl was far away from being convinced. One thing she hated, being told what to do. Despite that, all wore the bracelets as it was needed for the project. Since the end of the day was near, they simply had diner quickly before going each to bed. Their very first day went classic and tomorrow was really about to be the start of this project. How will it goes? What will happen? Will everything goes right? Why shouldn't it?
