"I can no longer craft items?"
"What the heck is this?"
In New Infinite's Global Shop, only crafted items can be sold for real money.
This was one of the main reasons why he decided to play the game—to have a shot at earning money.
And now, this talent, that was supposedly good, barred him from doing so?
"What kind of situation is this!?" Kael felt like crying, and he almost wanted to quit the game right there and then and just settle on becoming a real-life scavenger until he finds a stable job after finishing his studies.
In New Infinite, crafted items hold a special meaning and importance.
One could technically say that the world of New Infinite almost revolves around them.
As unlike other VRMMORPGs, monsters in New Infinite only drop materials upon death.
Hence, to better one's gears, they must craft their own items with the materials they obtained or buy them directly in the shops.
Players who don't have the time to do so, or don't know how to craft, can also resort to commissioning other players or even NPCs to craft an item for them.
Of course, such practice needs the player to provide the materials or pay an exuberant amount of game money before the commission could proceed.
Kael, on the other hand, only decided to play this game so that he could earn money through crafting.
Unfortunately, this seemingly god-like talent also provided him with a downside that he definitely hates to the core.
"Should I just quit?" Kael mulled over in regret.
However, thinking that it would be a waste of such a talent if he abandoned it just like that, he doesn't want to give up just yet.
At least, he wanted to have a try first.
Worst comes to worst, he will just settle as Vivian's assistant and earn some money through her.
"That doesn't sound so bad, does it?"
"Before that, though, I must find and reach the beginner city first. What was its name again? Enrio?"
"Uhh... Map?"
Kael recalled Vivian's instructions and accessed the map function of the game.
Instantly, a holographic map surfaced in front of his eyes.
This map, though, looks black and doesn't have that much of a detail. According to Vivian, each section of the map will be lit up automatically every time the player explores an area.
Zooming out, Kael found the general location of Enrio, the first city that players must go through in New Infinite.
"To the north?"
Kael noted the location down.
Before setting out, he decided to access his inventory first.
According to Vivian, it was where he would store his items, just like his empty sack during a scavenging session. The only difference was that he did not have to carry and bear the weight of his items once they were stored inside the inventory.
Of course, the inventory has its limitations as well. Unlike an empty sack, it could not store living things.
According to Vivian, a player will be granted twenty inventory slots the moment they enter the game. This means that they would be able to store twenty different items in total without bearing its weight and size.
To increase the slot, the player could simply buy it in appropriate shops that specialize in such things.
"Inventory," Kael muttered out loud.
The next instant, the inventory panel appeared in front of his eyes.
"Hmm? Is this the effect of my talent?"
Kael glanced at the number of slots he had and was shocked to realize his total inventory slot was actually set at 2,000.
His Collector Talent increased his slot to a hundred times.
"This is neat. Now, I don't have to pay to increase my slot like others." Kael's mood was lifted upon seeing that.
His motto in life was that if he could get it for free, then why would he pay for it?
What Kael did not know was that Vivian did not go into full details about the inventory slot's expansion and that it was not as simple as just paying some in-game money.
Expanding one's inventory slot to 500 was already quite a feat; how much more if it was more than a thousand?
If Vivian learned of the amount of inventory slots he has, her reaction would surely be a sight to behold.
Recovering from his elation, Kael looked at the only item stored inside his inventor with interest.
Aside from the worn garments, this was the only starter item that would be given to a player once they entered the game.
Recalling Vivian's words, Kael thought of retrieving the item, and in an instant, a standard-looking sword materialized out of thin air in his hands. At the same time, his inventory slot became empty and has now turned to 0/2000.
His eyes went wide in surprise as he felt the weight of the sword in his hands.
With a thought, the sword disappeared in his hands and appeared in the inventory once more.
"This is pretty convenient," Kael said in excitement.
If he had such a wonderful inventory function while scavenging, would he still need to retreat every time he obtained a good trash?
He looked at the sword intently, and its details popped up in front of him in the form of a holographic screen.
Type: Weapon (Sword) Grade: Common Effect: Strength +1 Weight: 1 Slot> Kael swung the sword a few times and began to familiarize himself with it. This was also one of Vivian's instructions. According to her, there were players before that did not try to familiarize themselves with the weapon and ended up getting killed a few seconds after they left the starting spot. Kael had swung metal pipes a lot of times while scavenging, and he definitely knew how to swing and hit properly with it. It just so happened that the sword in his hand has the same length and more or less the same weight as that of his metal pipe. It did not take long for him to familiarize himself with it. "This feels so real." Kael commented as he swung the sword a few more times and found no difference compared to his movements in the real world. Every time he swung the sword, Kael could feel himself slowly adapting in this new world. After he was done, Kael rested for a bit and did not linger in the area and immediately set out toward Enrio. A few steps later, Kael stopped in his tracks as a monster blocked his way forward.
