Chapter 5

He burned his mouth and now can't utter a single word.

I felt sorry for him, but I couldn't go soft now.

He mumbled a few things, but I couldn't make out a word.

It was Harmony beside me who mercifully spoke up first.

"Ethan, miscarriage is common in early pregnancy. It's not good for her to stay in a place like this. Why don't we let her out to recover for a while?"

"Let her out? What if she misbehaves......"

Ethan grew anxious, mumbling and whimpering, his eyes filled with hope.

"If it weren't for her belly, I wouldn't care if she lived or died! She's only useful for this! If I could get pregnant, we wouldn't need her......"

Harmony sobbed quietly, a pitiful sight to behold.

She was simultaneously showing her generous and understanding nature while also putting on a good show by making a pitiful face.

If this had been the real Ethan, he would have been heartbroken then.

But unfortunately, I'm not him.

I forcefully suppressed the anger in my heart.

In my past life, Harmony, in order to use my womb to bear a child, acted as the lady of the house, making me work as a maid. If I didn't obey, she'd throw me in the basement for a day.

And Ethan indulged her in everything.

Because she always found a way to pin the blame on me! I embrace Harmony, gently wiping away her tears with a tender hand.

"Harmony, she looks like you, so naturally, the child resembles you too. I'll make it up to you from now on."

I then disdainfully instructed Mrs. Shaw beside me, "Prepare a room for her."

At six in the morning, I heard commotion from downstairs.

I walked out to see the ground floor in disarray, Mrs. Shaw stood with her hands on her hips and wore a dark expression, while Ethan picked up shattered pieces from the floor.

Mrs. Shaw's sharp eyes caught sight of me, and she bowed her head anxiously, "I'm sorry for disturbing your rest, sir."

"Ethan, why are you up?"

Harmony emerged too, immediately clinging to me. She glanced downstairs and suddenly shrieked, "My black truffle mushroom soup!"

She angrily rushed down, cursing and pointing at Ethan, "What the hell are you doing? These are the truffle Ethan specially ordered for me, and you've just ruined them?!"

I smiled silently and stretched.

Ethan, having hurt his tongue, naturally couldn't speak.

"Ethan! Is Vivienne angry that I'm living here? I told you we shouldn't have moved in, see? She's deliberately antagonizing me! I helped her out and even put in a good word for her release. And how does she repay me?"

I stroked my chin and said with a smirk, "Truffle is precious, so let's not waste it. Vivienne, lick it up! Make sure you get every last bit."

Ethan immediately stood up and looked at me, his eyes filled with resentment and indignation.

"You don't want to?"

I impatiently frowned, making a show of reaching for my phone.

In the next second, Ethan shot me a furious glare, then got down on the floor and began to lick bit by bit.

"Ethan, come down and take a look at her. She really looks like a dog!"

I clenched my fists and flashed her a smile.

Just as I sat down at the table to start breakfast, another uninvited guest arrived.
