It was another normal, sad day for Eleanore, as she made her way to her office building that stood a few minutes away from her rented apartment. As her broken scooty hummed on the road, she felt the everyday state of strangers, questioning the stability of that vehicle. But she didn't care, her mind was elsewhere.
Today is a very important day for her. Today is her result day. She had a huge smile on her mostly dropped face, surprising most of the regular passers by who had seen her dragging her body to that part time job of hers.
As she parked her wrecked scooty in the parking lot of her office, she felt a hint of happiness. An instinct that seemed to have been telling her that perhaps today was her lucky day.
But oh my, how wrong she was!
Immediately as she entered the office she spilled her expensive espresso on her manager, who hated her to the core. She was scolded by him, in front of everyone, first thing in the morning. And if that was not enough, she was again insulted by a client for being just an intern.
Exhausted from the work and insults she had to deal with in those two hours before her result had to arrive, she sat in her favourite spot of the break room, which is usually empty at that time but wasn't today. There were many other's waiting for their result there, some were two years or more younger to her, some were a year or two older than her. All having a face covered with cold sweat, although it was a well conditioned room.
A minute later, Aalya heard a loud cheer from the left corner of the room, followed by many more. Turns out the result had arrived. Her hands shivered as she opened the site, then entered her seat number and her late mother's name. Before clicking enter, she remembered the almighty God one last time and then closed her eyes, while pressing the button.
She slightly opened her one eye and found her name on the result. She then slowly scrolled down looking for the word "Pass" that had appeared on her result in huge letters, filling her heart with joy and her eyes with tears.
Her phone slipped out of her hand, as she cried in happiness. Those joyful tears had been battling to come out for ages from her dried and tired heart.
Her struggle had finally come to an end and now she could only see success ahead. Dreams had started to form in her head. She will get a new house, find a fine man to marry, have a family of her own, one that she had yearned for since her mother, her only family passed away.
Everything that had been off track until now, was back to the right track.
"You did well, Eleanore. You did well." She muttered to herself.
Eleanore picked up her phone and rushed to find a box of sweets to share her happiness with all and condolence with those who failed. As she waited at the sweet shop for her order to get ready. She checked her phone for anyone, asking about her result but there was none.
Every time she failed, her phone would ring up with messages of her relatives asking about her result. Yet today when she passed no one asked.
After that she rushed to a coffee shop and quickly rushed out like a flash, reading to launch herself to the office. She was excited, very excited to enter that building with a bold smile, chest high up in pride and declare her success.
A beaming light of a speeding truck flashed in her eyes as she crossed the road to her office building. Everything turned white around her, while her eyes struggled to see what had caused that. Soon it dashed into her, making her fly a few meters backwards and then landing on the windshield of the car coming from another direction
The glass shattered by the weight of her body that had fallen over it. Pain gushed in as she slipped down on the dirty road, over the sharreds of the sparkling glass, the coffee cups she was holding had poured all around her mixing with her thick blood.
She faced the sky and her eyes captured the beautiful white cloud floating in it. It looked like a cute bunny, jumping its way into a mysterious den. While it shifted to the right, once it disappeared from her sight, her eyes felt heavy and closed forever.
"Why did it have to be now? When finally everything was going to be like moons and stars for me." She said to herself, when the realisation surged into her that she had died.
"There was a time when I wished for death yet was never granted. Now when I wish to live, Why?— There are so many things I haven't done yet. I hadn't dated a single man, nor have I kissed anyone, I am still a fucking virgin. This is not fair. God! Why did you kill me when my life was just about to get into a new arc."
Eleanore cursed her fate. She had finally passed the exam, she was struggling for years. Her life was going to start with her career taking a new speed. If only she hadn't left her office for a few cups of coffee to distribute among her colleagues, nothing of this kind would have happened to her.
Why did I get out?
|| To all the readers who are grieving over Caelestis Lancaster's death. I deeply apologize but this character always deserved death in my eyes of justice. Although he was a good leader, a good friend, probably a good son, yet he was never a good boyfriend or husband to the female lead.
Even after going through all his sins, if you still sympathize with him. I have an offer for you.
Would you like to change the destiny of Caelestis Lancaster?
