In the dark underground base.
Nagato's upper body was exposed, and a large number of black rods was embedded in his thin back.
"Orochimaru, he actually the betrayed Akatsuki!"
A cold light flashed in Nagato's eyes.
He had already sensed that Sasori might have been killed, though he wasn't sure where.
Orochimaru, who had gone to investigate Konoha's information, had not reported back to the organization.
Instead, he brought Yuta here.
Konan said, "Orochimaru has coveted your Rinnegan from the very beginning, and he joined Akatsuki with his own agenda. He has no true loyalty to the organization."
Konan frowned, her expression tinged with repulsion.
Even Uchiha Itachi and that "Madara" all had their own agendas.
If some high level combat power wasn't needed for the plan, such individuals would never have been allowed to join.
"Do you want to retreat for now?" Konan asked with concern.
Right now, only she and Nagato were left in the Akatsuki.
Itachi, Juzo, and Kakuzu had gone to the Land of Rain to investigate Hidan, the so-called immortal.
And now, Yuta was coming to the Akatsuki's base.
It seemed that Orochimaru had already informed him about the Rinnegan.
"No!" Nagato coldly said.
"Since he's here, I'll deal with him personally."
"He has defeated the Fourth Raikage, beaten the Third Tsuchikage, and even crushed an army of thousands of Iwa ninjas alone."
"He might be the biggest obstacle in the Akatsuki's future plans."
"Perhaps, I can take this opportunity to learn more about him."
Despite Yuta's terrifying record, Nagato didn't feel that he wouldn't be able to handle him.
After all, with his full strength, any number of normal ninjas were meaningless.
"Konan, don't make any moves for now."
After a moment of contemplation, Nagato commanded, "If I can't win the fight, I'll send the other Pains in right away. You'll retreat with me and Naraka path and the other Pains will hold them back."
As long as Naraka path could escape, he could summon the other Pains away.
Konan nodded, but she was still worried.
Without hesitation, she began manipulating her chakra, changing the battlefield around them.
Nagato closed his eyes and began to focus on the Six Paths of Pain.
Outside the base.
Pain, wearing the black-red Akatsuki cloak, walked out from the underground base.
He glanced at the rain and raised his head slightly, performing a seal with his hands.
"Release!"
With Pain's low voice, the rain that had covered an area of more than twenty miles stopped instantly.
The dark clouds dissipated.
In this place, where the sun never seemed to shine, a rare sunlight began to shine.
Yuta and Orochimaru were greeted by this unusual scene.
"It's truly ninjutsu." Orochimaru muttered.
He had heard Yuta say that the rain here was controlled by Pain's ninjutsu, but he had been skeptical.
To maintain such a vast area of rain, not to mention the difficulty of performing such a technique, just how much chakra would it take to sustain it all year round?
Is this really something Pain can manage alone?
If so, then Pain's chakra reserves must be quite terrifying.
"Orochimaru, how dare you return?" Pain said in a cold voice.
He had always been cautious of people like Orochimaru and Itachi.
He hadn't said much about Akatsuki's purpose yet, as he was concerned that the members might betray the organization and leak its secrets.
But Orochimaru had betrayed him and even led others to Akatsuki's base.
He had to kill him.
"I have no interest in Akatsuki's plans. I'm only responsible for guiding the way." Orochimaru said darkly, with a touch of sadness in his voice.
It was the truth. He wasn't free at the moment.
Yuta had asked him to lead the way, so he had no choice but to comply.
Pain's dangerous gaze swept over Orochimaru before turning to Yuta.
"I'm curious, what brings you here?" Pain asked.
Now, Akatsuki was just a mercenary ninja organization.
The reason they chose to hide in the Land of Rain was simply to avoid Hanzo.
Aside from the Rinnegan and a bunch of rebels, the current Akatsuki didn't really attract any attention.
In his view, Yuta had come here likely to kill Itachi.
Yuta sized up Pain, feeling a little disappointed.
Pain didn't have enough aura for someone this powerful.
Yuta asked, "He's not here right now, is he?"
He answered, "My primary goal this time is to kill him, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't let him know that I'm here."
Yuta casually ran his hand through his hair.
Itachi, that despicable bastard, has to be eliminated.
He couldn't let such scum continue to roam the world.
Pain narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything.
Yuta coming for Itachi wasn't too surprising.
Pain asked again, "If that's your primary goal, what else do you seek?"
"Of course."
"My secondary goal is that I think Akatsuki's activities might disrupt the order of the world, and I want to be a part of that."
Yuta spoke plainly, revealing his intentions without hesitation.
With the power he possessed, if he didn't deal with this beforehand, would he wait for Akatsuki to gather all the tailed beasts?
Instead of letting Akatsuki contribute to Obito's Eye of the Moon plan, he would claim their help for himself.
For a moment, the atmosphere was thick with tension.
The air seemed to freeze.
"Then I have nothing to say. That's impossible!" Pain replied coldly.
Want to join the Akatsuki?
Dream on!
As he spoke, a huge chakra surged from Nagato's side through the black rods.
The power emanating from Pain grew stronger.
"It's still not enough." Yuta said, releasing his chakra calmly to meet Pain's momentum.
"Besides, are you alone? That might not be enough."
"What about the other five? Though their strength is average, they should still be able to provide some support."
Pain's expression shifted instantly.
This guy knows about Rinnegan and the Six Paths of Pain?
How did he find out?
Only he, Konan, Madara, and Zetsu should know about it!
Konan wouldn't betray him.
Could it be Madara and Zetsu?
Did Madara betray him?
