Chapter 6

I sat down in the wheelchair and followed behind Susan.

The hospital lobby was now crowded with people, with a middle-aged woman sitting at the center of the crowd.

Behind her was a white banner, with six large words written in red pen: "Give me back my son's life!"

She was cradling a black and white portrait in her arms, the face of a child who looked young.

Everyone was whispering among themselves.

"How pitiful, I heard they were victims of the rear-end collision at the tunnel entrance. Those rescue teams said they got everyone out, but who knew there was still a child inside."

"I heard they only discovered him after the follow-up crew arrived."

"They're not human at all, how can they still call themselves a rescue team after this!"

I instantly understood what had happened.

Susan had taken all the rescue teams to the tunnel entrance, just to save Carter.

As long as they rescued him, they didn't care about anything else.
