Chapter 43: Unexpected Developments
Beams of red light, each with a diameter of 100 meters, descended from the sky, landing into the ocean and instantly causing it to boil!
"What are they trying to do?"
Chang Wei had gleaned the answer from the memories of the Predator Elder: they intended to evaporate Earth's oceans, eradicate the Xenomorphs, and thoroughly cleanse the planet.
Such an operation wouldn't leave Earth entirely waterless due to its planetary water cycle. The evaporated seawater would condense into rain and fall back to the surface. Furthermore, Earth still held abundant groundwater resources, so there was no need to worry about a complete water shortage.
The real concern, however, was the unprecedented torrential rains that would follow—far more catastrophic than the flood Noah's Ark had endured!
A deluge lasting a million years would pale in comparison. Humanity might even evolve to grow webbed limbs and gills in response to such a catastrophe—if they survived.
The sea level visibly receded, and mist engulfed the space between heaven and earth. This mist was actually scalding hot steam that annihilated over 90% of living organisms, including plant life.
Global temperatures skyrocketed instantly, exceeding 100 degrees Celsius. For humans, a temperature of 50 degrees already posed severe risks of dehydration and heat stroke. At 50 degrees, one could fry an egg outdoors—let alone survive in temperatures above 100 degrees!
Even Chang Wei, despite his heat-resistant genetic traits, felt the impact. His movements were hindered, though he remained functional. Only the Predator species continued unaffected, systematically eliminating the remaining Xenomorphs and human survivors.
This ocean-evaporating operation lasted ten full days, with the Predator spaceship showing no signs of halting. They proceeded to scour the newly exposed seabeds. Even if the Xenomorphs managed to withstand the scalding waters, they were ultimately eradicated by this cleansing assault akin to "wiping the slate clean."
Of course, this was merely the Predators' assumption. In reality, Chang Wei had absorbed the Xenomorphs beforehand.
Faced with such an extreme environment and relentless assault, and given that the Predator spaceship never descended to a vulnerable altitude, Chang Wei decided to alter his plans.
The Predators' objective was simple: to flush out any remaining suspicious creatures during the purge.
So, Chang Wei decided to give them what they wanted!
On the ground, Predator warriors soon encountered an ambush.
The enemy moved with incredible speed and bore a striking resemblance to them.
Chang Wei, clad in his Guyver armor, concealed his identity. His shoulder sported a biological plasma cannon resembling the Predators' own plasma shoulder cannon, capable of firing plasma streams and projectiles.
For the Predators, there was nothing more exhilarating than encountering a dangerous and powerful prey.
Instead of retreating, the ground forces surrounded Chang Wei, opting for one-on-one duels.
Having absorbed their memories, Chang Wei was fully aware of this tendency, so the outcome didn't surprise him.
Predators could cooperate during hunts, but only when fair combat wasn't possible. In this scenario, Chang Wei had shown up armed with a blade, clearly challenging them to a duel.
"Accept… duel…"
After Chang Wei ambushed and eliminated two Predators while demanding duels, the others granted his wish. Dozens of tri-dot red laser sights locked onto him, and an elite Predator wielding a spear stepped forward.
The two faced off briefly before the elite Predator made the first move, lunging at Chang Wei with a lightning-fast spear thrust. Chang Wei easily dodged and countered with a single slash, splitting the Predator's head open.
Seeing Chang Wei effortlessly kill their comrade, the other Predators weren't discouraged. Instead, they became even more excited and fervent.
The stronger and deadlier the prey, the better!
Predators were a thrill-seeking species, unafraid of facing insurmountable odds. They would charge headlong into battle against a formidable foe without hesitation.
"You and you, come at me together."
Knowing that the Predators had translators, Chang Wei pointed to two elite warriors and spoke.
The two elite Predators didn't decline. They stepped forward immediately—one unsheathing a wrist blade and the other revealing a weapon unfamiliar to Chang Wei from the movies but present in his absorbed memories.
Both attacked simultaneously, demonstrating their confidence despite facing a powerful enemy.
Chang Wei sidestepped the wrist blade and instantly bisected the first Predator at the waist. He then kicked the other, shattering half its body with a clean, decisive strike.
"ROAR!!"
An elite Predator couldn't contain its excitement and removed its mask, exposing its flower-like mandibles as it roared.
It was a sound of exhilaration.
The other Predators echoed the sentiment.
"ROAR—!!"
"All of you, come at me together," Chang Wei declared.
The Predators exchanged glances, unable to hold back any longer. They relented.
While the Predators had advanced weaponry like net guns and flying discs, they refrained from using them in duels. In such fights, they relied solely on spears, wrist blades, or even bare hands.
