Chapter 33; His eyes were Golden Slits

The dungeon doors creaked open, the sound echoing through the cold stone walls. Alexia's heart raced as she and Gina were led down a narrow, dimly lit corridor. The air was thick with the scent of damp stone, and the only light came from the flickering torches mounted along the walls.

Alexia couldn't shake the image of the dead man in the garden, his lifeless eyes and the unmistakable bite marks on his neck. What had happened to him? And why had they been dragged into this?

Gina, who was normally the bold one, was silent beside her, her steps unsteady. Her usual confidence had evaporated, replaced by a tense, anxious energy. Alexia felt the same, but she masked her unease, trying to stay composed.

The guard at the front of the group stopped in front of a cell and unlocked the heavy iron door. The sound of the door scraping against the stone floor sent a shiver down Alexia's spine.
