"What do you mean by I am special?" Eren asked Lilith.
"You don't have to know," Lilith replied and Eren frowned. "But Eren, you are the key to saving my race."
"How?" Eren asked with his brows furrowed in confusion. "I don't think I understand what you are talking about."
"Your birth, Eren," Lilith replied.
"What about it?"
"Have you ever wondered why your mother after birthing you?" She asked him.
"That's because she fell sick," Eren said.
"Yes, but that is what they wanted everyone to believe," Lilith said and Eren's eyes were opened wide in shock and confusion. "Your mother was killed by the gods."
Eren's eyes widened more in shock and confusion as he stared at Lilith. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice shaking slightly. "My mother died after giving birth to me. That's what everyone told me."
Lilith's expression was somber. "That's what they wanted everyone to believe, Eren," she said. "But the truth is, your mother was killed by the gods. She was a powerful demon, one of her mind. Only she had the power to wipe the reign of the gods but unfortunately, she got married to a human and left her family. Surprisingly, we found out that she was
carrying a child, not just an ordinary child but a child bearing the ancient bloodline. Just like your mother, you have the power to destroy the gods if you wish to."
"How did the gods find out that my mother was pregnant of me?" Eren asked.
"I don't know how they found out about that so they began to plot how they'd kill you and your mother the day she delivers you but unfortunately for them, your mother decided to give birth to you before that time. No one knew that you had been born, now even your father knew about it. She hid this secret so well and that's what kept you alive till this day. On the day that you were supposed to be born, the gods came as planned and killed your mother, thinking they had also killed you too."
"How did I survive then?" Eren asked. Eren could not believe that there were so many things that he didn't know about, such as his birth, his true origin, his mother, the plot against his life and the mysteries surrounding him.
"Your mother cast a spell on you after you were born and that's how the gods didn't know about you," Lilith replied.
"How did you come to know about all these things?" Eren asked Lilith.
Lilith fell silent for a while and then she spoke up. "Because I am Lady Elsa's little friend."
Eren was quite taken aback. "You know my mother?" He asked her.
"Lady Elsa saved my life when I was little and in return, I promised to serve her. Though she never liked being served and regarded me as someone she could trust, I still prefered to serve her. She gave you to me and told me to protect you until everything returns to normal, I have been here with you all these while. I watched you grow, watched your life become terrible and I never interfered because it was the price you had to pay for being a Hybrid."
"Sigh, so you are telling me to bear this cross, is that what you are saying?" Eren asked Lilith after a while.
"No, this time around, I am willing to bear the cross with you.. I won't let you suffer alone anymore," Lilith replied.
Eren became emotional as he listened to Lilith's words. He felt a mix of emotions: shock, anger, sadness, and gratitude. He was shocked to learn about his mother's true identity and the circumstances surrounding his birth. He was angry at the gods for killing his mother and trying to kill him. He was sad that he had to grow up without his mother and that his life had been so difficult.
But most of all, he was grateful to Lilith for protecting him and being a constant presence in his life. He felt a deep connection to her, and he knew that he could trust her with his life.
"Thank you, Lilith," Eren said, his voice shaking with emotion. "Thank you for telling me the truth and for protecting me all these while."
Lilith smiled and took Eren's hand in hers. "You're welcome, Eren," she said. "I promise to always be here for you, no matter what."
Eren felt a sense of peace wash over him as he looked at Lilith. He knew that he still had a long and difficult journey ahead of him, but with Lilith by his side, he felt like he could face anything.
"So how do we escape this thing that is happening now?"
Eren was not only concerned about his personal business but also about the thing happening to their school.
"The place has just been under... This is what I should call monster invasion," he said, trying to lighten up the tension between him and Lilith.
"It's happening everywhere."
Lilith said, her eyes trailing off. "We can't continue to stay here forever. Come, I have to take you back home."
"Really?"
Eren didn't just want to go back home.
"We can stay here until help comes," he said, hoping that she would agree but unfortunately, she insists.
"No, when will help come? I'll take you back home. At least, I can be able to protect you from there."
"Fine," Eren said. Though he didn't want to go back home because of how he was being treated, he had no other choice. "Take me home."
Since his mother trusted Lilith with his life before she died, Eren has slowly accepted it and will learn how to live with her.
As soon as he agreed to go home, Lilith's eyes gleamed with a fierce light. She reached out and grasped Eren's hand, her touch sending a surge of energy through his body.
The world around them began to blur and distort, colors bleeding together as the air seemed to ripple and tear. Eren felt a strange sensation, as if he was being pulled apart and put back together again.
When the distortion cleared, Eren found himself standing in the midst of a desolate, war-torn landscape. The air was thick with the stench of death and decay, and the ground was slick with blood and gore.
Monsters roamed the ruins, their twisted forms writhing and twisting as they feasted on the corpses of the dead. The sky was a deep, bloody red, and the air was filled with the screams of the dead.
Eren's home, once a humble and unassuming place, now stood as a battered and besieged fortress. The walls were cracked and broken, the windows shattered, and the door hung crookedly on its hinges.
Eren could not believe his eyes. His home was among the destruction.
"I am sorry."
Though it was not Lilith's fault that Eren's home has been destroyed, she still felt the need to apologize. If only she had arrived earlier, his family perhaps would have survived.
"This is not your fault," Eren told her.
He had no reason to be angry at her since it wasn't her fault. He was supposed to be angry at the monsters for destroying his home but strangely, he didn't feel any resentment towards them.
"You know what, Lilith," he said, glancing at her and then looking back at the ruined house. "I feel strangely at peace now that they are gone."
