Chapter 59: Severed Arm

Chapter 59: Severed Arm

"Stop, Dai Yao. Only the victor in the competition for the throne has the right to deal with the Second Prince," the Fifth Elder's voice echoed.

"As long as you ascend the throne, you can exact your revenge on both of them however you see fit."

Dai Yao recognized the voice as belonging to the Fifth Elder.

With a glance at the Fifth Elder sitting in the high stands, Dai Yao did not plan to respond.

If he were the one losing today, he knew the Fifth Elder would stop Dai Yaming. After all, to the Fifth Elder, the family rules were more important than anything else.

But why should he stop? Just because of those inhumane, decayed family rules?

What nonsense rules!

He was a normal person, not some masochist. In the competition for the throne, he was already at an absolute disadvantage.

Not only was he the youngest, but his mother had passed away. That meant he had to face the three princes alone.

And what about the family? Did they uphold the rules of the competition? Where were they when the palace eunuchs bullied him in the Cold Palace?

Not long ago, even one of the Second Prince's subordinates dared to humiliate him without consequences.

Why should he accept this?

Had the family intervened at all?

They only offer an empty promise of the throne, giving him nothing. Why should he fight and die for them?

If they couldn't even deliver on a fair promise, what reason did he have to be loyal?

Dai Yao snorted coldly, ignoring the Fifth Elder and preparing to continue his assault on Dai Yaming.

The Fifth Elder's eyes narrowed. "Could it be that this boy, Dai Yao, dares to break the family rules?"

Beside him, Bishop Ferdinand's eyes sparkled with anticipation. If Dai Yao threw that punch, it would mark his official break with the Star Luo Imperial family.

The arena was filled with boos, and under the Fifth Elder's stern gaze and Bishop Ferdinand's expectation, Dai Yao was about to throw his punch when his peripheral vision caught sight of Dai Hengyu, who was slowly shaking his head.

He signaled Dai Yao not to strike.

Dai Yao froze. He could ignore everyone else, but he couldn't disregard Dai Hengyu.

He coldly stared at the cowering Second Prince and Zhu Zhuyue, his fist seemingly frozen in the air, not falling for a long time.

After a long pause, Dai Yaming, sensing something was wrong, opened his eyes. He noticed the murderous intent on Dai Yao's body gradually dissipating.

He pulled Zhu Zhuyue up and, with tears of gratitude, bowed deeply. "Thank you, Fourth Prince. You are magnanimous, please spare us."

Their heads hit the ground heavily, blood flowing freely.

The two slowly got up, ready to leave when Dai Yao stopped them.

"Stop. I never said I would spare you." His cold voice was like the sound of death approaching.

"Sever one arm, and I will spare you."

Dai Yao's cold words rang out.

The humiliation of today would undoubtedly stay with Dai Yaming for life. Although it wouldn't entirely eliminate future threats, having him sever an arm would ensure he would never reach the Title Douluo rank, significantly reducing his threat.

In the original story, Tang Hao severed an arm and a leg to return the Soul Bone to the Haotian Clan, dropping his soul power from over level ninety to level seventy-nine, unable to progress any further.

It wasn't until later that Tang San used the Blue Silver Domain's unique characteristic to restore Tang Hao's body, allowing him to return to the Title Douluo level.

For an ordinary person, severing a limb would mean permanent loss with no chance of recovery, but someone like Tang San, a legendary figure, was the exception.

As long as Dai Yaming severed his arm, he could never reach the Title Douluo level, and he would no longer be a threat to Dai Yao.

The Fifth Elder didn't allow Dai Yao to kill them, but severing Dai Yaming's arm was his bottom line.

Hearing that Dai Yao would spare them, both Dai Yaming and Zhu Zhuyue were initially relieved. But the idea of severing an arm filled their hearts with a sense of dread.

Dai Yaming gritted his teeth. "Fine, I agree. As long as I sever an arm, you must spare us both."

"Once spoken, words are like a horse that can't be turned back!" Dai Yao replied.

"Don't!" Zhu Zhuyue, her face in tatters, grabbed Dai Yaming's arm, her voice cracking as she pleaded.

She knew that Dai Yaming's goal was to strengthen his power and claim the throne, but after severing his arm, his body would no longer be whole, and he would never reach the peak of the soul master path.

It would be a regret he would carry forever.

It was exactly as Dai Yao had said before. Now, she deeply regretted her past actions.

Dai Yaming gently removed her hand and, his bloodied face breaking into a grim smile, said softly, "It's okay. Severing my arm in exchange for our survival is worth it."

He knew Dai Yao's goal was to have him sever his arm, and if he refused, Dai Yao would certainly leave his life here.

After enduring three years of grueling training and silently bearing the insults, Dai Yao was undoubtedly ruthless. Even the family rules couldn't restrain him.

Taking a deep breath, Dai Yaming gathered his soul power, placed his right hand on his left arm, and with all his strength, snapped it off.

Blood sprayed out like a fountain, and multiple beams of light rose from the audience and fell onto Dai Yaming's body.

The wound slowly stopped bleeding, and Dai Yaming's face turned pale as paper. The pain made him break out in cold sweat, and weakly, he said, "Is it enough now?"

Dai Yao nodded.

"Now that's a man," Dai Yao silently praised.

Zhu Zhuyue looked at him resentfully, but Dai Yaming stepped in front of her, smiling and shaking his head, signaling her not to hate Dai Yao.

They had brought this upon themselves, but if they were lucky enough to survive, it was Dai Yao's mercy.

Zhu Zhuyue helped Dai Yaming up, and the two stumbled off the dueling platform, slowly disappearing down the contestant's tunnel.

The arena gradually erupted into scattered applause, which grew louder as if influenced by the mood, and eventually became thunderous!

Though the outcome of the duel was unexpected, the Second Prince's infatuation and the Fourth Prince's strength gave the spectators much to admire.

They knew that from this day forward, a new star had risen in the Star Luo Empire!

His talents and abilities were unparalleled, rare throughout history!

Zhu Zhuyue leaped off the stands and rushed up to the dueling platform, throwing herself into Dai Yao's arms. She was already in tears.

Dai Yao was taken aback. The usually cold Zhu Zhuyue was showing such vulnerability for the first time in front of him.

After a long while, Zhu Zhuyue gradually regained her composure, her cheeks flushed with a deep blush. She shyly turned her head away.

Many of the students, seeing the "Ice Princess" Zhu Zhuyue show such a face in Dai Yao's arms, couldn't help but feel envious. But they couldn't bring themselves to be jealous.

Now, with Dai Yao's brilliant rise, Zhu Zhuyue was definitely reaching beyond her grasp.

On the high platform, the Fifth Elder stared at Dai Yao for a long time, remaining silent. Dai Yao's actions had undoubtedly defied the family rules, and thinking of Dai Yao's potential, all the Fifth Elder could do was sigh in resignation.

Bishop Ferdinand, smiling slyly, glanced at the Fifth Elder, as if hiding something.

Seeing the annoying expression on Ferdinand's face, the Fifth Elder snorted coldly and flicked his sleeves, walking away.

Among the many eager gazes, only one was cold and filled with murderous intent.

That gaze came from Davis!
