Chapter 60: The Fourth One You Can't Afford to Offend
After today's battle, Dai Yao will undoubtedly become the thorn in Dai Wei Si's side.
At only nine years old, Dai Yao is six years younger than Dai Ya Ming, who is fifteen. Although Dai Yao had six fewer years of cultivation, he still managed to defeat Dai Ya Ming.
Dai Ya Ming not only had a top-tier Beast Martial Soul but also possessed a Soul Bone, with a Soul Power level of 29, making him unbeatable in the Great Soul Master realm. Yet, he was defeated by Dai Yao, who had six fewer levels of Soul Power.
If it hadn't been for Dai Yao's lack of combat experience, this duel would have been one-sided.
This duel shocked all the spectators and left Dai Wei Si feeling cold all over.
That cold, murderous gaze from Dai Wei Si was easy for Dai Yao to recognize. The joy of victory slowly faded away as he faced it head-on.
He wasn't afraid, though. The battle for the throne between the two of them was inevitable.
But Dai Wei Si was not as foolish as Dai Ya Ming and would never give Dai Yao a chance to grow.
With a cold grunt, Dai Wei Si left the arena with Zhu Zhu Yun.
Dai Yao's mood grew heavy at once.
"It seems Dai Wei Si is preparing to take action against me. I need to leave Star Luo Empire as soon as possible!"
...
After the Soul Duels, for several days, Dai Yao remained in the simulated environment, training under the waterfall, day after day.
Even though the Soul Duel had ended and he had defeated Dai Ya Ming, he knew he could not relax his standards.
In the path of a Soul Master, Dai Ya Ming was just a stumbling block. There would be many stronger enemies to face in the future.
Originally, he had planned to leave Star Luo Empire right after the duel. But Zhu Zhu Qing still needed to acquire her second Soul Ring and had to return to her family to hunt a Soul Beast before they could leave.
The Soul Masters cultivated by their family were hand-picked through the generations, chosen to best match the family's martial souls. It would be difficult to find a suitable Soul Beast in the Heaven Dou Empire. So, despite the time constraints, Zhu Zhu Qing still needed to go back to the Zhu Family to hunt one.
Now, their situation had greatly improved.
After Dai Yao defeated Dai Ya Ming, Zhu Zhu Qing's status had also risen. Those who once bullied her in the Zhu Family now greeted her with smiles, no longer showing their previous arrogance.
Zhu Zhu Qing knew that their change of attitude was all thanks to Dai Yao.
She was extremely grateful to have someone like Dai Yao as her fiancé.
During Zhu Zhu Qing's absence, Dai Yao's life had undergone dramatic changes.
First, there were constant visitors, all eager to pledge allegiance to him.
After defeating Dai Ya Ming, Dai Ya Ming's influence crumbled, leaving the First Prince's power uncontested.
The "Four You Can't Offend" powers had now been reduced to three, and the other two forces were no match for the First Prince. In the chaos of the academy, many saw an opportunity.
That opportunity was to align with the Fourth Prince, establishing the Fourth Force in the academy.
Although Dai Yao was only a Great Soul Master, with a large gap in Soul Power compared to the First Prince, and his family's influence was nowhere near as formidable, Dai Yao had continuously created miracles. He had defeated the Third and Second Princes in succession, absorbed a thousand-year-old Soul Ring as his second ring—something no one had ever done before. This made many consider the potential risks worth taking.
At one point, they had thought that the Fourth and Third Princes, and even the Second Prince, had a gap in strength. But hadn't Dai Yao defeated them all? So, defeating the First Prince was not out of the question.
Moreover, after the Soul Duel, everyone could clearly see Dai Yao's potential. While it was too late to help him at this point, it wasn't too late to join him and add to his glory.
Thus, they flocked to visit him, hoping to win his favor.
But Dai Yao refused them all. After all, he was planning to leave Star Luo Empire soon and had no interest in forming a faction here.
Moreover, with Dai Ya Ming retreating, Dai Wei Si would come after him first.
Having learned from Dai Ya Ming's experience, Dai Wei Si would never give Dai Yao time to cultivate.
Retiring gracefully was the best choice. Avoiding conflict with Dai Wei Si was paramount.
For the first time in three years, Dai Yao entered the aristocratic dining hall of the cafeteria.
Gone was the disdain and contempt from the past. Even though he wore the simplest of robes, he was still respected by all the Soul Masters.
The moment he stepped into the cafeteria, all eyes were on him.
He walked through the room like a lion surveying its territory, exuding an air of dominance.
During the meal, he ignored all the aristocratic formalities, displaying no sense of decorum, yet no one seemed to mind. In fact, many noblemen thought it was refreshing and admired Dai Yao's straightforwardness.
This was the advantage of strength—when you were strong enough, anything you did was right.
He had been chased out of the cafeteria by Dai Ya Ming once and had never returned. This had always been a bit of a sore point for him.
Now, stepping into the cafeteria again, while it eased the tension in his heart, it didn't bring the sense of satisfaction he had expected. Instead, it felt a little boring.
Of course, among all the changes, the most troubling part was the constant attention from girls.
In the past, because of his bad reputation, many people would visit his training grounds to see the so-called academy joke.
But now, many girls who were fond of him were constantly bothering him, and it was starting to get on his nerves.
Even walking on the streets, he was constantly surrounded.
Whenever the girls bothered him, Zhu Zhu Qing would cast a quiet gaze at him, making him feel that if Zhu Zhu Qing could use her Martial Soul, she would probably have already taken action to chase those girls away.
Perhaps in his past life, he might have enjoyed this attention. But now, it was nothing but a nuisance.
'This is really hindering my cultivation!' Dai Yao thought disdainfully.
What good are women when cultivation is at stake? Moreover, he already had a famous Ice Queen by his side, and there were few who could compare to her beauty in the academy.
"If it were Hu Liena or Qian Renxue, I'd consider it," Dai Yao thought, stroking his chin in earnest. "If it were Bibi Dong or Posey, that would be even better."
Night
There was no moon tonight, with thick clouds blocking the moonlight.
The forest was pitch dark, only the occasional sound of wild beasts could be heard.
A knock on the door sounded.
"Come in." Dai Yao's eyes narrowed.
It wouldn't be more girls coming over at night, would it?
"Looks like the Fourth Prince has been troubled lately," came the voice with a teasing tone.
The visitor seemed to know exactly what was troubling Dai Yao.
This person was cloaked entirely in black. When he removed his hood, Dai Yao instantly recognized the visitor's identity.
"It's you?!" Dai Yao exclaimed in surprise.
The person in front of him was none other than the Fourth of the "Four You Can't Offend," and the leader of many noble factions from various kingdoms—the Crown Prince of the Baretan Kingdom, Lan Yuxuan.
"On the orders of the Platinum Bishop of the Soul Hall, Ferdinand, I'm here to assist the Fourth Prince in leaving Star Luo Empire."
