Chapter 36: The Hideout

Ethan and Alex rode the motorcycle for hours, putting as much distance between themselves and their pursuers as possible. They finally stopped at a small, rundown motel on the outskirts of town.

"I know the owner," Alex said, as they pulled into the parking lot. "He's a friend. We can trust him."

Ethan nodded, his eyes scanning the surrounding area. The motel looked like it had seen better days, but it was secluded, and that's all that mattered.

They checked in, and the owner, a grizzled old man named Jack, showed them to their room. It was small, with two single beds and a bathroom that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks.

But Ethan and Alex didn't care. They were exhausted, and all they wanted to do was sleep.

As they settled in, Ethan's phone buzzed with an incoming message. He hesitated before answering, wondering who it could be.

But as he read the message, his heart skipped a beat.

"Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight," the message read. "Come alone."

Ethan's eyes locked onto the message, his mind racing with possibilities.

Who was sending him these messages? And what did they want?

To be continued.
