Chapter 18: The Moon and the Wolf (3)

Chapter 18: The Moon and the Wolf (3)

"You're joking," Remus said angrily.

"No," Harry replied seriously as he walked over to a table against the wall. He took out a notebook, opened it, and handed it to Remus.

"This is my research so far. Not only about the connection between spiritual energy, a person's soul, the body, and magical particles. Also what I've discovered about the phases of the moon and the change it causes in magical particles."

"Please read it. And I ask for your help with this. If I can determine what's going on inside your body, I might be able to come up with a solution for your illness and that of many others."

Remus frowned a little. When he arrived at the place, he was surprised to see a small house and Harry coming out of it, welcoming him happily. He was a little surprised that Harry lived in this place, but he didn't have time to ask questions when Harry got straight to the point and asked to let him see his transformation.

Remus took the notebook and began to read slowly. The more he did, the more he was amazed by Harry's discovery of how magic really worked and the connections between various things in the bodies of wizards and witches. When he got to the part about the research on the moon and werewolves, he was shocked in disbelief at the similarities a full moon could cause to what he felt when he began his transformation.

"Harry... I still don't like this," Remus sighed. "I dread to think what I could do to you if you're not careful."

"Please, Remus," Harry pleaded once more. "This could be very helpful. Besides, I'm not as weak as you think."

Remus looked at him for a long moment before sighing tiredly and rubbing his closed eyelids.

"You won't change your mind, will you?... Damn it, Harry," Remus growled a little, but looked seriously at Harry.

"If you bring Dumbledore, I'll be more at ease. If you can contact him and get him to come, I'll agree to you investigating me."

Harry smiled and nodded vigorously. He immediately ran off to write a letter and handed it to Hedwig.

"There..." Remus grimaced at how quickly Harry acted.

"But, in the meantime, we can talk a little or have some fun."

"Have some fun?" Remus raised an eyebrow.

"Have you ever seen Star Wars, Remus?" Harry smiled in amusement.

. . .

As time and days passed, Remus became a little upset because he knew he would lose his job by not going for days. But, if he said he wasn't curious about Harry's results, he would be lying. Even more so when Dumbledore arrived, the man endorsed Harry's first research, saying that he already knew about the location of the so-called magical core in a magical person's skull and its contained energy.

The old man had arrived days before, so the three of them had spent time together in the small house and talked about various things. The three of them found the talks interesting and fun, especially the stories that Dumbledore had saved, there were many about the Hogwarts teachers.

And, while no one else knew about it, Harry changed his glasses for some more special ones that he bought at the store for a thousand chat points, leaving him with 3900 points. What made these glasses special was that they not only adjusted to a person's vision problems, but they also let him see inside a being's body and the energy running through said body. The object only worked on the body and showed the energies inside the people it saw, as well as things like blood or their organs, so it couldn't see someone naked or see through walls, but it's not like he cared, he just wanted its energy-seeing function and to be able to see the possible changes in Remus.

Dumbledore had created something like the age line for the Goblet of Fire, but this wouldn't let Remus pass outside the circle formed by the line. And as the transformation began, Remus began to growl as his body began to spasm. As the seconds passed, his growls became more feral, as did the appearance of his eyes. His flesh became redder and his mouth elongated into a snout, all at the same time as black hair began to appear all over his body.

When the transformation finished, a thin werewolf appeared, but with great madness and who seemed to contain much more power than his body seemed to let on. Remus howled loudly at the moon and growled as he leapt forward, but bounced back as if there was a force field stopping him from running.

Dumbledore watched the transformation sadly. He had never seen Remus transform, but it was not something he liked to witness. The pain that contorted Remus' face before the transformation made him feel sad, and the madness that engulfed him afterward made the older man sigh shakily.

As he looked to his side, he noticed how Harry's face was frozen in a look of complete shock. He could only assume that he had discovered something that made him like this.

And yes, Harry had made a discovery.

As Harry tapped the right side of his glasses twice with his dice in the moment before the transformation, he could see spiritual energy gathering in Remus' skull. But at the same time, magical particles entering Remus' body.

Harry had already noticed how the magical particles contained more Yin than usual, so he could notice how these magical particles moved towards Remus' 'magic core'. Since spiritual energy had a connection to the soul and therefore the psyche of a person, it could influence their reasoning, emotions, feelings and so on. It was no wonder that Remus became completely furious and aggressive!

This was an answer to his questions! But not all of them!

So, when he could understand this, Harry touched the side of his new glasses again, so he could see other internal parts of Remus' body. At that moment, Harry noticed how Remus' blood seemed to move faster than normal and seemed darker, it was as if someone dropped a drop of ink and it spread through the blood.

This completely led to Harry's surprise and disbelief. This no longer seemed to be a disease as many called it, or a blessing as it appeared in the book Dumbledore lent him.

It was more like... a curse.

Harry slowly approached, drawing the attention of Dumbledore, and Remus, who growled at him. But Harry only focused on the magical particles before a transparent field manifested. This field was a sphere that enclosed Remus and caused his body to go rigid.

Dumledore didn't understand what Harry wanted to achieve, but what happened in the next instant froze him.

"Ha... Harry?", a voice slightly distorted by a growl echoed through the room.

It was Remus' voice.

"Dear Merlin..." Dumbledore whispered in disbelief after exhaling heavily.

"I- I... What... happened to me?... Why?" Remus asked, his voice growing clearer with each word.

"Harry?" Dumbledore asked.

"Do you know what Yin and Yang are, Headmaster?"

"Yes..." Dumbledore nodded. "I am lucky to have a Chinese friend in the ICW, so I know about such things, even if it is not such deep knowledge."

Harry nodded seriously before relaxing and smiling as he turned his head towards the Headmaster.

"Yin... in some philosophies it is the feminine principle, the earth, darkness, passivity and absorption. Yang is the masculine principle, the sky, light, activity and penetration."

"I already explained the change that the lunar phases could bring to a person, especially a magical one. But, now that I see the transformation, I could understand that in someone with the curse of lycanthropy, the effects increase several times more. The Yin charged by the full moon and condensed in the magical particles that entered Remus' body completely unleashed his darkest emotions, his most rational thoughts seemed to have been sealed or at least overwhelmed by the most primitive, wild and dark ones."

"However, this does not cause the transformation, it only darkens his mind, causing the behaviors of his werewolf side. What I just did was deploy the magic that I created... that we talked about at Hogwarts," Harry smiled excitedly while the other two just listened attentively and surprised.

"I manipulated and used a cluster of magical particles to create an intangible barrier that separates the magical person from the magical particles, causing them to be unable to distort or modify reality with spells... Well, in a nutshell, the barrier prevents someone from using magic by blocking a person's connection to the magical particles."

"In Remus, it made the Yin that was constantly entering, no longer do so. With that, his thoughts returned and he can now control himself in his werewolf form."

Remus gulped and looked at his body in fear before raising his hands. He could do it! He could control his body! He blinked, moved his limbs, sat up, stood up, walked, did his best to tell himself that he wasn't dreaming.

"Wonderful!" Dumbledore exclaimed excitedly as he took a few steps, standing next to Harry, and much closer to Remus than before.

"Harry... Would you... know what causes my transformation?" Remus asked slowly, noticing that his voice was the same as always, bringing more joy and tranquility to his being.

"I suppose it's your blood," Harry replied, tilting his head slightly. "Your spiritual energy is fine right now, and before it was just more erratic, and I've already explained the reasons for your changes to your feelings, thoughts, and instincts."

"I think it's not a simple disease, but more like a blood curse that causes the transformation. This is just a theory right now, but perhaps a werewolf's saliva causes something in the blood, which causes the change in an infected person."

"Indeed..." Harry ran into the house and came out in a few seconds, holding a glass.

"Spit there... I'll try to analyze and investigate the saliva."

Remus just nodded. Now that he had experienced Harry's results, he had no reason to refuse.

Dumbledore, however, decided to ask a question: "Harry... How long will your magic last?"

"Whatever I want," Harry smiled proudly. "This magic doesn't use my magic reserves, but uses the magic particles to sustain itself. I just have to control it, nothing more."

"The most surprising thing," Dumbledore's eyes shone brightly.

Harry chuckled lightly before returning to the house to carefully place the glass of saliva in a safe place where it wouldn't fall. When he left, he began to talk about various things with Remus and Dumbledore, especially to calm the latter. This was something that worked until dawn, when Remus began to cry at seeing the sunrise in his werewolf form. His mind was at peace and at no point did he feel like killing or attacking.

When he returned to normal, he was naked and tired, so much so that he fell asleep after a few seconds.

"I'll take him inside..." Dumbledore smiled and Harry nodded, removing his anti-magic barrier. When the headmaster entered, his phone rang with a notification. When he saw what it was, he smiled.

[Rewards]

[5,000 CP]

[Holy Magic: Curse Removal]

[Taurus Horn - Trident (Modified)]

Harry smiled at the notification of the completed mission. This meant that his deduction that the reason for the transformation was the saliva of a werewolf and subsequently the infection and spread of a curse in the blood. The mission also did not specify all the problems, so it was considered completed upon finding a solution for the loss of a werewolf's mental faculties.

But when he read the descriptions of the second and third rewards, he almost started laughing like a madman.
