The TV screen buzzed with static and panicked voices.
Reporter: "We interrupt this program to bring you urgent news! There are enormous explosions across the city! Entire blocks have been reduced to rubble, and the destruction shows no signs of stopping! It's like the entire city is..."
KSSHHHH! KSSHHHH! BOOM!
The broadcast abruptly cut off, leaving only the sound of static.
Kazuto sat on his worn-out couch, staring at the blank TV screen with an expression as empty as the void inside him.
Kazuto: "..." Sigh. "Looks like it's time to go."
He stood up, walking over to the corner where his "hero outfit" was hanging—a simple black suit, tight-fitting and minimalistic, paired with a deep crimson cape. With practiced movements, he put it on, adjusted the cape, and stretched his neck.
Kazuto: "Another day, another monster."
The city was in chaos. Buildings were reduced to rubble, cars flipped and smoldering, and people running for their lives. Amidst the destruction, a young boy stood frozen, tears streaming down his face.
Boy: "WAH! WAH! DAD! MOM!"
The boy's cries echoed through the ruined streets as the Kaijin, a grotesque, hulking creature with bulging muscles and veins glowing an eerie green, lumbered closer. Its skin was cracked and pulsating, as though barely containing the immense energy inside.
The Kaijin's mouth twisted into a malicious grin as it crouched near the boy, pretending to offer help.
Kaijin: "Poor little thing... Don't worry. I'll make your suffering end quickly."
Its massive hand began to grow, fingers elongating into sharp claws as it reached toward the crying boy.
Boy: "WAH! WAH!"
But just as the claws were about to close around the boy, they stopped. The Kaijin blinked in confusion, its hand closing on thin air. It looked up and saw Kazuto standing there, holding the boy in one arm.
Kaijin: "Who the hell are you?"
Kazuto's expression remained calm as he gently placed the boy down a safe distance away. He turned to face the towering monster and adjusted his cape with a flick of his hand.
Kazuto: "Just an average guy... doing some hero work."
The Kaijin's eyes twitched in anger, veins bulging as its body began to radiate an ominous green light.
Kaijin: "AVERAGE? YOU DARE MOCK ME?!"
It slammed its fists into the ground, creating a shockwave that cracked the pavement.
Kaijin: "I AM TOXINUS, THE APOSTLE OF PURIFICATION! Born from the filth of human waste, molded by the pollution you disgusting creatures pump into the earth! Your cities spew poison into the air, your oceans reek of garbage, and your very existence taints this planet!"
It pointed a massive finger at Kazuto, trembling with rage.
Toxinus: "YOU HUMANS ARE A VIRUS! A DISEASE! AND I AM THE CURE! MY DESTINY IS TO WIPE YOUR WRETCHED CIVILIZATION OFF THE FACE OF THIS EARTH!"
Toxinus's body began to swell, muscles bulging even more as its height soared past five meters. Its monstrous form cast a shadow over Kazuto, who stood still, unflinching.
Toxinus: "And you, some so-called hero, think you can stand in my way?! What are you, huh? Another arrogant fool? YOU DARE OPPOSE ME?!"
Kazuto scratched his head lazily and yawned.
Kazuto: "Wow, you talk a lot for a guy who's about to get punched in the face."
Toxinus roared in fury, its voice shaking the ground as it lunged forward, raising a colossal fist to crush Kazuto.
Toxinus: "DIE, YOU INSIGNIFICANT INSECT!"
But before its fist could even reach him, Kazuto stepped forward. His punch was a blur, connecting with Toxinus's core.
Kazuto: "HAAAAAAAAAAH!"
The impact was catastrophic. A shockwave tore through the street, shattering windows and leveling what was left of the nearby buildings. Toxinus's body disintegrated mid-air, reduced to a burst of green light and ash.
Kazuto stood in the aftermath, his fist still clenched and smoking from the sheer force of the blow. He stared at his hand in silence, his expression unreadable.
Finally, he sighed, breaking the quiet.
Kazuto: "DAMMIT! Another fight over in one punch!"
He threw his hands up in frustration, his voice echoing through the empty streets.
Kazuto: "Why is it always like this?! Can't I get a decent fight for once?!"
The boy, still trembling, looked up at Kazuto with wide, tear-filled eyes.
Boy: "Th-thank you, Mister Hero..."
Kazuto turned to the boy, his frustration fading as he managed a small smile.
Kazuto: "Yeah, yeah. Just... stay safe, kid."
As the boy ran off into the distance, Kazuto stared at the horizon, the weight of his overwhelming power sinking in once again.
Kazuto: "...It's gonna be another boring day."
