Chapter 0017– Doesn’t This Class Like Literally Turn Me Into A Game Boss?

******

'This… is this the mission?' Xylen finally thought after a moment, his heart pounding in his chest. 'But this punishment for failure…' His breath caught, deep bewilderment washing over him. 'Isn't it way too much?'

In the next instant, his thoughts spiraled into chaos. Never before had he heard of a mission with such a devastating penalty for failure like this in his previous life.

He became so lost in his thoughts that he failed to hear the concerned voice beside him until suddenly;

"My Lord! My Lord!!"

The intensified anxious voice jolted him back to reality.

"Yes… yes…" Xylen stammered, startled, as he turned to Lilith. Concern shadowed her gaze as she looked at him.

"Are you okay, my Lord?" she asked, her voice soft but insistent.

Seeing his confusion, she pressed on. "Just now… you were so lost and distant that it looked as though you were going to faint again."

"This…" Xylen hesitated. Of course, he knew what Lilith was talking about.

But… why wouldn't he want to faint? His entire hope rested on this game.

It was supposed to change his life, provide Aurelia with everything she'd ever dreamed of, exact revenge on his family, and—if possible—uncover the real truth about his mother's death.

Now, all of it threatened to crumble… on the very first day.

Xylen hurriedly glanced at the corner of his vision, where the relentless countdown ticked away.

The 24 hours now remain: (23hrs:55mins:01secs:00milisecs)

"About this uncle of mine," he said abruptly, completely catching Lilith off guard. "Can you tell me a little about him?"

"This…" Lilith paused, stunned by the sudden change of topic. But then brows knitted together with worry.

"My Lord… do you really think now is the time to discuss that? We should already be finding our way out of this town before it's too late."

Xylen sighed deeply. 'Even if I want to, do I even have another choice now?' he thought bitterly, shaking his head.

"I can't just run from the unknown, can I?" he replied firmly.

Lilith studied him, and realizing he had already made up his mind, she exhaled, a resigned and helpless sigh escaping her lips.

"If that's the case, then please let me give you a brief introduction, my Lord," she began. "I already told you how you came to be here, didn't I?"

Xylen nodded his head.

"Back then, nearly all the warriors in the town were wiped out. Only the powerless remained—women, children, the elderly, and a few frail men," she explained, her voice heavy with sorrow.

"That's when your uncle appeared."

Xylen's brows instantly furrowed, catching the note of hatred in Lilith's tone, but he stayed silent.

"He was a wandering adventurer before the time, and your father had tried countless times to convince him to come home, but he always refused, claiming his life's purpose was to explore the Fallen Realm. Yet, not even a day after those vile Celestial clan bastards attacked Ravenwood, he returned, declaring his intention to restore order and honor his deceased brother until his son…until you were old enough to take the reins," she continued, her voice heavily laced with bitterness.

"At first, people adored him because although he wasn't as kind as your father and mother, he treated the citizens well enough. For a while, everyone thought he was a blessing sent by heaven to take care of Ravenwood for you," she paused, her fists clenching. "But within a month after his return, he revealed his true nature."

Xylen tensed slightly, listening intently.

"Overnight, he turned into a tyrant, making life a nightmare for everyone. He imposed unbearable taxes on everything, took young and beautiful women by force, and exploited able-bodied men." Lilith released a heavy sigh, clenching her fists with rage and hatred.

Her eyes stared blankly as though recalling the events of the past, then she looked back at Xylen.

"The good thing was, he couldn't fully turn himself into a full-fledged evil leader because as long as you are still alive, occupying the baron position, even if unconscious, he couldn't fully seize control of the barony. But just a few days ago, he made his move—he decided to eliminate you entirely so nothing could stand in his way," she added, her voice trembling with so much anger.

With another sigh, she continued, "As for why I want us to leave as soon as possible, it's because your uncle and his men are currently away from town—likely meeting that evil count. This is our best, and probably only, chance to escape."

'Hmm…' Xylen's lips twitched at the venom and helplessness in her voice. He could feel the depth of her hatred.

'Hmmm.' Xylen sighed internally, clearly impressed by Lilith's story.

'Flawless, as always,' he thought before shaking his head, his gaze still on Lilith.

"Do you know how strong he is?" He asked all of a sudden, his voice steady but filled with hope.

Lilith hesitated, her eyes narrowing. 'What does my Lord plan to do with that information?' she wondered. But she answered nonetheless.

"He's a Level six Hellblade Fighter," she said, hesitating for a moment before adding. "But according to rumors, he may have broken through to the next realm a few years ago."

'This!' Xylen's chest tightened.

'A Level six Hellblade Fighter?!' His thoughts screamed, panic rushing through him.

He hurriedly swallowed hard, trying to steady himself. "What about his men—his forces? How strong are they?"

Lilith's expression turned grim. "He commands a Level Four Abyssal Berserker and a team of Level Three Dreadknights, led by another team of Level Four Dreadknights."

As soon as Xylen heard this response, his stomach churned.

'This has to be a sick joke,' he thought, wondering how someone like him, who was most definitely at level zero was going to battle this craze lineup and even win.

He felt a wave of dread coursing him in the next instant.

Before he fully lost all hope, however, he took a shaky breath and summoned his status menu.

In the next instant, a futuristic, transparent interface appeared light before his eyes, something only he could see.

Without hesitation, Xylen took a deep breath and scanned the text that appeared, unsure of what to expect given that his class was something he had never heard before.

"What's wrong with my lord?" Lilith murmured to herself, watching Xylen as he stood there, staring blankly as if he had completely lost his senses.

At first, she decided not to bother Xylen, assuming he was just taking his time to process her words, but now;

"My Lord are… are you okay?" she asked gently, concern etched deeply in her voice.

Xylen blinked rapidly, finally snapping back to reality.

"This… this class…" he whispered to himself, his disbelief and shock evident in his voice and countenance. "Doesn't… doesn't this like literally turn me into a game boss?"

His body began to tremble slightly, finding it hard to comprehend what he had just witnessed.

On the other hand, Lilith, seeing Xylen like this was completely bewildered, wondering what her lord was mumbling, but before she could think of asking;

"We're staying." Xylen declared with a sudden, unexpected resolve. "We're going to stay and defeat my uncle and his men."

Lilith's jaw dropped in utter shock.

"What… what did you just say, my Lord?" she stammered, staring at him in disbelief.
