The Hidden Sanctuary

Kael led Lyra through the winding streets of the city, dodging alleys and side streets to shake off any potential pursuers.

As they walked, Lyra noticed that the buildings around them were becoming increasingly run-down and decrepit. The air was thick with the smell of decay and neglect.

"Where are we going?" Lyra asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Kael glanced around cautiously before responding. "We're going to a sanctuary," he said. "A place where we can hide and regroup."

Lyra's eyes narrowed. "What kind of sanctuary?" she asked.

Kael's smile was enigmatic. "You'll see," he said.

As they turned a corner, Lyra caught sight of a dilapidated church in the distance. The building looked abandoned, but Kael seemed to know exactly where he was going.

He pushed open the creaky door and gestured for Lyra to enter.

Lyra hesitated for a moment before stepping inside. The interior of the church was musty and dark, but as her eyes adjusted to the light, she saw that it was not as abandoned as it seemed.

There were people moving in the shadows, their faces obscured by hoods.

"Welcome to the Sanctuary of the Veil," Kael said, his voice low and mysterious.
