Chapter 9

Garrett's face was pale, his speech labored and breathless.

Yet no one in the hospital room moved to comfort him.

Garrett sensed something was amiss. Usually by now, everyone would be consoling him and cursing me for being inconsiderate.

My parents glanced at Garrett but remained motionless.

Aria addressed Garrett coldly.

"Do you really need a heart transplant to save your life?"

Garrett was startled by her words.

But he quickly regained his composure.

"Of course. You've seen my test results. Do you think I would fake something like this?"

"I'm not like my brother. I wouldn't bribe anyone to falsify reports, let alone deceive people."

"Has Fintan been spreading lies to you?"

Garrett didn't understand why Aria was suddenly questioning him, but he knew he had to stick to his story in front of his parents.

Aria approached Garrett, holding up her phone.

"Did you do this?"

Garrett stared at the phone Aria was showing him.

It displayed all of our text conversations.
