Chapter 4

After the three of them cried together for a while, Mom and Dad asked about me.

"Where's your brother? He's in the same department, why hasn't he come to see you?"

Garrett felt a bit hesitant.

"My brother has already been discharged."

My mom hugged Garrett.

"Discharged already? He sure recovered quickly, leaving the hospital just days after surgery. Isn't he worried about dying out there?"

My dad intervened.

"What are you saying? Even though Garrett had surgery now, we can't be sure there won't be issues later. If he dies, what will happen to Garrett?"

Hearing this, my mom repeatedly slapped her mouth.

"Knock on wood! If he's going to die, it better be after Garrett."

"Don't worry, Garrett. Mom and Dad will always protect you."

Hearing his parents' words, Garrett felt a warmth spreading in his heart.

The next day, when Aria entered the hospital room, she saw the heartwarming scene of Mom and Dad surrounding Garrett.

She felt a twinge of discomfort, as she couldn't recall ever seeing Mom and Dad treat me that way.

"Come in, Aria. We owe Garrett's healthy heart to you."

Mom and Dad were busy thanking Aria, not mentioning me at all.

Aria asked Mom and Dad if they had any news about me.

As soon as they heard about me, Mom and Dad's mood soured."Why are you concerned about him? He's already been discharged, which means he's fine. You should focus more on Garrett instead."

"Garrett has always been frail since childhood, while Fintan is as strong as an ox."

Mom and Dad have always intended to set up Garrett and Aria, but due to Garrett's health condition, they never explicitly said so.

Now it's all good. As long as Aria and I divorce, she and Garrett can be together.

Before Aria could respond, a colleague entered.

"Dr. Blackwood, you're so good to your husband, coming to look after him every day."

Upon hearing this, my parents assumed everything was settled, while a hint of red appeared on Garrett's face.

Aria, on the other hand, had anger rising on her face.

"Who told you he's my husband?"

The colleague, not noticing Aria's expression, replied with a smile.

"Everyone in the department knows. No need to pretend."

With that, she left the room to attend to her duties.

My parents held onto Aria.

"Aria, since Fintan isn't here anyway, and your colleagues think Garrett is your husband, they'll take better care of him."

Aria noticed Garrett's uncomfortable expression and suppressed her anger with great effort.Upon returning to the office, before Aria could find her colleague to ask questions, someone informed her that her mentor had arrived.

Hearing this, Aria rushed to the director's office.

The moment she saw Caelan, Aria ran forward and hugged him.

"Professor, it's been years. How's your health?"

Caelan nodded, then smiled as he looked Aria over.

"I heard you performed a heart transplant surgery. You've really surpassed your teacher."

Caelan went on to mention how he had performed surgery on Aria when she was young, never imagining that she would grow up to follow in his footsteps.

Aria froze.

"Professor, what surgery are you talking about?"

Caelan was surprised by Aria's reaction.

"The heart transplant, the one you had as a child."

After a moment of silence in the office, someone burst in.

"Dr. Blackwood, come quick! The family members of the patient in bed 32 are fighting."

Hearing "bed 32," Aria thought of Garrett.

She immediately sprinted to the ward.

As soon as she entered, she heard someone shouting.

"How dare you deny it! My nephew donated his heart to your daughter."

Aria rushed forward to separate the two.

Mrs.Blackwood saw Aria, her eyes reddening with hurt.

The other person who had been pulled away started shouting again as soon as he saw Aria.

"It's you! My nephew Fintan's heart is in you."
