After deciding to stay overnight, V called Jack.

"Jack, don't wait for me and Alex. We're staying with Judy tonight."

"Yes, everything went smoothly. What did you find over there?"

"What! He had that kind of good stuff in there? Wasn't it supposed to be discontinued?"

"Alright, we'll discuss it when we get back, and make sure to stay safe."

Hanging up the phone, V looked at Alex with surprise.

"Alex, Jack really found a lot of good stuff in Fingers' place!"

"Oh? Did he really find something?" Alex was surprised as well.

He had mentioned it in passing, thinking that the two legendary prosthetics only produced by Fingers might be there.

But he wasn't too sure since there's always a difference between games and reality.

Unexpectedly, Jack really found them.

"Yes, there are two top-notch immune system prosthetics, pain editors, and full-scale resistance."

Seeing V's excitement, Alex looked puzzled.

"I mean, you two are sitting on tens of millions of eurodollars. Why are you so excited about a few prosthetics?"

V shook her head: "Alex, you might not understand. The reason these top-level prosthetics are precious isn't just because of their price."

"Oh? Then what is it?" Alex was slightly taken aback.

To be honest, he really didn't know.

Could it be that legendary prosthetics in the hands of ripperdocs, and even all legendary weapons, are unique for a practical reason?

V explained: "These top-level prosthetics are produced in small batches by large corporations and are only provided to select customers."

"Like Heavy Hammer?" Alex's mind flashed with images of legendary prosthetics from the Hammer.

V nodded.

"Yes, that means such a top-level prosthetic only hits the market when someone like Heavy Hammer is taken down."

This time, Alex understood the reason.

No wonder these legendary items are so valuable.

Not to mention how difficult it is to take down someone as strong as Heavy Hammer.

Even if they are eventually killed and their body is retrieved at great risk, few of the prosthetics are still intact.

This illustrates how precious these top-level prosthetics are to mercenaries at the bottom of society.

As night deepened, the two chatted, and V suddenly fell silent.

Alex felt a gentle weight on his shoulder.

Looking at V's peaceful sleeping face, Alex suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of calm.

Gently, he laid V down to rest on the sofa.

He took off his coat and placed it under V's head as a pillow.

He then sat nearby and closed his eyes to rest.

With the support of the Blacklight Virus, his energy levels were unparalleled.

As long as he had enough energy, even going three days and nights without sleep wouldn't affect him.

As V and Alex rested, the room fell into a serene silence.

The only sound was Judy working in her studio...

...

Before long, the sky began to brighten.

V slowly awoke.

She glanced at the coat serving as her pillow and then at Alex, sitting nearby with his eyes closed.

A slight smile appeared on her face.

Quietly, she unfolded the coat and gently draped it over Alex.

Whoosh!

As soon as V touched him, Alex's eyes snapped open.

Seeing that it was V, his tense muscles relaxed.

"Uh... you're awake..." V said, quickly averting her gaze from Alex's deep eyes.

Just then, there was a noise from Evelyn's room.

"Evelyn!"

Upon hearing the noise, Judy rushed out of the room to check on Evelyn.

Alex and V exchanged a glance and followed.

Evelyn was sitting, hugging her knees tightly, her face buried in her arms.

The bruises and blood all over her body were heart-wrenching.

"Evelyn, it's okay. No one can hurt you anymore..." Judy gently stroked Evelyn's hair, comforting her softly.

However, Evelyn had retreated into herself, unable to listen to anyone.

No matter what Judy said, she remained silent.

Alex sighed quietly.

No one who has gone through such trauma can easily let go.

It's easy to develop "post-traumatic stress disorder," also known as PTSD, commonly referred to as post-war psychological syndrome.

Such events can drastically alter a person's demeanor, leading to anger and irritability.

In addition to being previously attacked by the Voodoo Boys, her body was now semi-paralyzed.

She could only perform simple actions and couldn't care for herself, let alone speak coherently.

In this state, having suicidal tendencies was not an exaggeration.

"Judy, come here." Alex gestured for Judy to follow him out of the room.

Once outside, Alex asked quietly, "You checked Evelyn's behavior chip last night, right?"

Judy's face turned cold at the mention of it.

"I wish I hadn't seen those things. That bastard Woodman... Thank you, Alex!"

Alex nodded.

It seemed Judy had seen what Woodman had done to Evelyn.

That would make the next steps much easier.

"Judy, V and I know an excellent ripperdoc who should be able to repair Evelyn's implants," Alex suggested.

V's eyes lit up: "Yes, Vik should be able to help."

"But I..." Judy hesitated, feeling uncertain.

Alex smiled: "There's nothing to worry about. Let's get going."
