Facade.

Selene~

I could feel his intense gaze on me.

A shiver ran down my spine, though the morning air was warm.

Damien's gaze locked onto mine, steady and intense, making it impossible to look away.

His expression was unreadable, but there was something there—something simmering just beneath the surface.

I swallowed, suddenly too aware of how my breath felt uneven.

My fingers curled at my sides, a quiet attempt to ground myself, but it did little to stop the way my heart pounded in my chest.

Was he angry? Amused? I couldn't tell.

He didn't speak.

He didn't turn away.

Instead, he kept his piercing gaze on me.

And in that moment, I wasn't sure if I wanted to hide from his gaze—or to challenge him.

This time I won't back away.

My gaze hardened as I pulled my gaze from him and settled on the people in front of me.

I chose a different style.
