Preparing for the Second Scenario

The system's announcement echoed in the air like an ominous warning.

Two days.

That was all the time they had before the second scenario began.

Ryo clenched his fists, his mind racing. He had read the novel, he knew what was coming next. The difficulty was only going to increase. The first scenario had been just the beginning—a way to filter out the weak.

But now, things would escalate.

He had to be ready.

And luckily, he had an advantage.

A transparent blue screen appeared in front of Ryo as he accessed the system shop.

Since he had survived the first scenario, he had received a reward—system coins.

It wasn't much, but it was enough to give him a head start.

[System Shop]

▶ Weapons

▶ Skills

▶ Items

▶ Miscellaneous

Ryo's eyes went straight to the Weapons tab.

Right now, he needed something reliable.

After scrolling through the list, he found what he was looking for.

[Iron Sword]

➤ A simple but sturdy sword.

➤ Cost: 150 Coins

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Without hesitation, Ryo purchased it.

[You have purchased Iron Sword (150 Coins).]

[Item has been stored in your inventory.]

A new icon appeared on his system window—Inventory.

When he accessed it, he saw the sword neatly stored there. With a single thought, he could summon it instantly.

This is amazing.

He had expected the system to work similarly to the novel, but experiencing it firsthand was something else entirely.

Haruto and Shiori were watching him with confusion.

Kael, on the other hand, had a more calculating gaze.

"You just… stood there for a minute," Haruto said, frowning. "What were you doing?"

Ryo smirked. "I was shopping."

Haruto blinked. "Shopping?"

Shiori raised an eyebrow. "There are no stores left."

Ryo exhaled and opened his system window for them to see.

[System Shop Available]

A stunned silence followed.

Kael narrowed his eyes slightly, but there was a glint of curiosity in them. "So… we can buy things from the system?"

"Yes." Ryo nodded. "If you survived the first scenario, you should have earned some coins. Try accessing the shop."

The three of them hesitated but followed his instructions.

Moments later, Haruto's eyes widened. "Holy crap… it's real."

Shiori gasped. "Weapons… skills… items…"

Kael remained silent, his expression unreadable.

Ryo crossed his arms. "This system is the key to survival. If you don't use it, you won't last long."

Haruto gulped and immediately started browsing.

Shiori did the same.

Kael, however, took his time. His golden eyes studied the shop interface as if trying to understand its deeper meaning.

Ryo wasn't surprised. Kael was the novel's protagonist, after all.

He wouldn't just accept something blindly—he would analyze it.

As they explored the shop, Ryo glanced at Kael again.

There was something unsettling about this moment.

In the novel, Kael never had knowledge of the system beforehand—he had learned things as he progressed. But now, because of Ryo… things were changing.

Would this small change alter the course of the story?

Or would Kael's fate remain the same?

Ryo didn't know.

But one thing was certain—he couldn't rely on the novel anymore.

This world was no longer just a story.

It was reality.

And reality had no guarantees.
