Kael Draven.
The main protagonist of the novel.
If Ryo wanted to survive this world, he needed Kael on his side.
In the original story, Kael fought alone for a long time before forming a team. But Ryo couldn't wait for that to happen naturally—he had to accelerate the process.
And he knew exactly how.
A monster would appear soon.
A large, menacing snake-like creature with razor-sharp fangs—one of the first major threats in the novel's early chapters.
If Ryo played this right, he could prove his usefulness to Kael and gain his trust.
Kael had finished browsing the System Shop.
Like Ryo, he had purchased a sword—a Steel Blade, slightly better than Ryo's Iron Sword.
Ryo expected nothing less.
Kael was the protagonist, after all. Even in a simple purchase, his instincts led him toward the best choice.
Ryo turned to him. "Kael, I want you to join us."
Kael didn't answer immediately. He studied Ryo with his sharp golden eyes, analyzing him.
Haruto and Shiori looked at each other, sensing the tension.
"…Why?" Kael finally asked.
Ryo had expected this.
Kael was someone who didn't trust others easily—especially in the early parts of the novel. He had survived alone for most of his life.
"I have knowledge that can help you," Ryo said carefully. "And in return, I need your strength. You're strong—I can tell."
Kael's gaze didn't waver. "You don't even know me. Why do you think I'm strong?"
Ryo's mind raced.
He couldn't reveal the truth—that he had read the novel.
So, he gave the best answer he could.
"Because you're still alive."
Kael's eyes slightly widened at that.
"…I see."
That was partially the reason Ryo admired Kael.
But more than that—Kael was the only person who could change the course of this world.
However, Kael wasn't convinced yet.
Ryo needed to prove his worth.
Luckily, he knew exactly how.
Ryo glanced at the ruined cityscape. The monster would appear soon.
In the novel, this snake-like creature was one of the first monsters Kael fought alone after the first scenario.
But this time, Ryo was here.
And he would use this battle to gain Kael's trust.
Suddenly—
CRACK!
A loud noise echoed through the streets.
The ground trembled.
Everyone turned toward the source.
From the shadows of a collapsed building, a massive, serpent-like creature emerged.
It was even more terrifying than Ryo had imagined.
Its body was covered in dark, metallic scales that gleamed under the dim light. Its fangs dripped with venom, sizzling as they touched the ground.
And its eyes—cold, emotionless, and deadly—locked onto them.
A system message popped up.
Ding!
─────── [SYSTEM ALERT] ───────
⚠ Warning! A Wild Monster Has Appeared! ⚠
[Venomfang Serpent – Lv. 8]
──────────────────────────
It's here.
Ryo tightened his grip on his sword.
Kael, however, remained calm. His golden eyes focused on the serpent with sharp precision.
Ryo glanced at him.
This is it.
He had one chance to prove himself.
And he wouldn't waste it.
