Chapter 6

This is unraveling into a delicate situation.

I pretend to casually run my fingers along his calf.

Callie looks down at me, his hair falling softly around his face. It's so different from his usual untouchable demeanor, yet it makes me even more uneasy.

I stroke the inside of his calf, carefully feeling the muscles under my palm.

No reaction at all.

I'm completely bewildered now.

Callie watches me quietly, saying softly, "Delia, I hope I didn't frighten you."

His legs are well-maintained with no obvious atrophy, but there's still a noticeable difference compared to a normal person's.

I'm overcome with a sense of guilt.

Donavan said Melody had slipped me a love potion. Under the double effect of that and the sleeping pills, I likely experienced severe hallucinations.

After all, there were no kiss marks left on my body, and my clothes were still perfectly in place.

Could it all have been just a vivid dream?

Lost in these jumbled thoughts, I feel my cheeks grow hot.
