Chapter 12

After meticulously planning and collecting proof of Yoder's wrongdoings, I made my way to the police station.

In those trying times, Chief Douglas, who led the station, had been my guiding light. He'd not only assisted in retrieving Bruce's arm but had also discreetly unearthed crucial leads for me.

The once-powerful Elise Family, deeply entrenched in the city's fabric, was now falling apart.

Hadson found himself behind bars, facing charges so grave that his future seemed irredeemably bleak.

During my visit to him, despite his dire situation, he didn't appear startled by my presence.

"It was you after all," he remarked, his eyes weary. "The dutiful daughter-in-law of the Elises."

Unlike him, I maintained my composure. With a slight smile, I responded, "You brought this upon yourself. It's karma."

As I turned to leave after speaking, Yoder called out. His voice, now rough, made him sound years older.

"Hold on, child. Are you aware of his identity?" Hadson inquired.
