Chapter 5

Tiernan instantly became alert, like a suspicious fox.

I knew why he was acting this way. This doctor appeared to be around our age, with a tall, slender build and a refined demeanor.

If it had been someone older or less attractive, he probably wouldn't have been suspicious.

How ridiculous.

He and Cadence were thick as thieves, yet he demanded my trust.

While he placed his trust in me, it was as fragile as thin ice, easily shattered by a few words from Cadence.

Seeing Tiernan's expression, eager to get to the bottom of things, I couldn't help but smile.

My gaze swept over to Cadence, who had a smirk playing at her lips. I spoke coolly, "Give me back my belongings, or I'll rip them off you myself."

Cadence immediately looked to Tiernan in panic.

But Tiernan ignored her pleading eyes, instead directly taking off the lucky charm.

He handed the charm to me, awkwardly saying, "Sunny, don't be mad. I'm sorry, okay?"

"I'm not angry. Don't overthink it."
