Raze stared at the wolf that was slowly approaching. This wasn't supposed to be how it was—he had met too many ranked beasts in this forest, and it wasn't like that in the story.
"This is bad," Raze said. He tried to control his breathing as he gripped his sword, his eyes trained on the wolf.
"That wolf seems different from the others," Joel said.
"It's a rank one wolf," Raze said, and his statement immediately threw Joel into panic. He started shaking, almost unable to stand on his feet.
Raze glanced at Joel, and a thought came to his mind. Should I use him as a distraction? I might be able to win if I do so. Raze thought, but after a few seconds of thinking, he decided not to—there were too many issues that would come with the death of Joel right now.
"I don't think you can help me here, so unless you want me to end up using you as a distraction for the wolf, I suggest you start running now," Raze said to Joel.
