It was Mrs. Kind, a hardworking woman who had been working at Ukay Company for years. She should have been promoted by now, but her progress was hindered by the incompetent Mr. Yung.
"I'm not interrupting, am I?" she asked.
Caleb quickly stepped out, pretending he had only come to pick up a file.
Inside, Seraphina shivered, still clutching the scanner in her hand. She wanted to defend herself, but instead, she found herself frozen in place, unable to say anything.
He left with the file, and Seraphina hesitated before stepping out of the storage room, still feeling embarrassed. As she made her way forward, she could feel the eyes of several colleagues on her, making her even more anxious.
"Just a question, Seraphina," someone said with a smirk. "Dating a colleague is fine, but doing it during working hours? That's a different story."
She forced a small smile but said nothing, choosing to return to her tasks.
A few hours later, it was finally break time. Solana, her mentor, invited her to join her for lunch. Seraphina usually tried to avoid having lunch with Solana, but since they worked in the same company, she had little choice but to go along.
"Hey babe, what's up? I invited Caleb to join our lunch. He'll be here soon."
Seraphina thought of it as an inconvenience, but what could she do?
After some time, Caleb joined them at the table, and they decided to take trays and serve themselves. Solana assured them that the payment was on her. However, as Seraphina moved through the line, she had a strange sense of déjà vu—something like this had happened in her past life.
Solana definitely had a plan for her.
Solana had insisted that Seraphina pick u.p their trays while she made an excuse to go to the restroom. Afterward, Solana selected her meal, placed a wallet on her tray, and handed it to Seraphina to pay for her.
But something felt off.
The wallet wasn't Solana's. The texture was different—it was thick leather with a modern fashion design.
Seraphina quickly realized that the wallet belonged to the man standing beside Solana, who was now frantically searching for it. That's when she understood—Solana was trying to frame her for theft.
In her past life, Seraphina had always covered for Solana, taking the blame for her actions. But not this time. She wouldn't protect anyone except herself.
Without hesitation, she placed the tray back on the payment counter, paid for her own meal, and went to sit at the table.
When Solana returned, expecting to find her meal ready, she was shocked to realize that Seraphina hadn't paid for her.
Just then, a commotion erupted. The man was becoming desperate to find his wallet.
Security checked the CCTV cameras and began searching for Seraphina. Unfortunately, the footage didn't capture the moment Solana took the wallet—the area where it happened had no cameras.
