The front desk was swamped as he assumed it would be. Pearson looked exhausted and Laurel was following quickly. Their lines were four people deep as Lucas approached. The guests smiled as if they had a secret.
"I truly hope you had a good time because I enjoyed all of you," he told the group and most he had played poker with last night.
"I had a wonderful time, thanks," his friendly poker man told him, "I know you had a really good time last night."
"Oh, you do?" Lucas asked, wondering about his lusty smile.
"Oh yeah, we had a quiet little party outside your apartment last night. Got a few of our ladies riled up at all the calling out of your name. That tall drink of water of yours must be something."
Lucas looked around and the line had stopped moving as everyone looked at him waiting for the answer. "As a matter of fact, she is and yes, I had a good time. I hope you come back next year. She may be pregnant if I work it just right. I plan to marry that tall drink of water."
"Well, good for you," one guest said as the others patted his back congratulating him, moving up in line. Turning a little red, he accepted the praises and hoped it was not premature.
Shoving another man's arm, he asked, "you sat outside my window?"
"Yeah, we did for a while. Marcus came in and announced that you were having a good time, and the girl was quite loud, so we followed him over there. Now normally I'm not that perverted, but Glenna, who hasn't made it down yet," he said, insinuating he had something to do with that. "She seemed to want to have someone make her scream, so I offered. It took a while but once she got started." Another man piped up, "she was loud,"
"Well, I'm glad I inspired you. Please come back, I have enjoyed all of you, noisy or not."
"I know I will, and I plan to collect up some friends who like to play poker and would enjoy the beach and come back."
"Sounds good and I'll collect up my friends and we can meet up here." A good-looking woman Lucas has seen around a lot said.
"Okay, you got it." Poker guy said.
They all started passing out phones for numbers as the line started moving again. Lucas continued to have casual conversations.
Glenna got off the elevator, pulling her suitcase, the tick; tick of the wheels caught everyone's attention. Dan, Dan the poker man left the line and approached her. She smiled; with an Aah from the others, he scooped her up giving her a nice hug. "Nice walk of shame," one of the other girls teased.
"Yeah, he started it," she complained, pointing at Lucas. "Where is Tomorrow?" Glenna asked, looking around the lobby.
"She is trying to get herself together," Lucas boasted.
Taxies started lining the front, so they got busy checking people out.
Like I said, come back and remember it is not horribly hot here in the summer. We get the cool air off the deep ocean on this side."
Lucas walked into his apartment and called out her name. Nothing, thinking she was still asleep he stepped into his room. Bed empty, his ties still tied to the headboard. The scarves tied to the footboard caught his attention. The concerning thing was a rather large carrot that was wrapped in a condom and tied at the top sat to the side of the bed. His candle that he had for decoration was on the night table. He has played these games before and was not going to endure them again. All he saw was pain. He broke the carrot in half and tossed it in the trash, washed his hands and went to look for Tomorrow.
Knocking on her door all he could hear was a blow dryer. Taking his master key, he opened her door and followed the noise. The vision he saw stopped him in his tracks. That waist length blonde hair flew over her head and down her back in one quick snap the other hair was about four inches long. She still had some damp spots, but otherwise she was done. He knew she was clean and ready for him.
"Yeah," Lucas said loud enough to be heard over the dryer.
Turning quickly the dryer went off, "How did you get in here?" She asked quickly, torn between excited and angry.
"Owner and I have a master key." He said and dangled the keys in his hand. "You know, if you don't answer your door, but I knew you were here, and I was worried.
Now the next question is what is with the set-up in my room.
If you think, I'm letting you use that carrot on me. You have lost your mind and no to the candle wax too. I have been burned already. So that is not going to happen either."
"But I saw it in a porn and that guy looked like he enjoyed it," she said walking towards him giving him a good view of what he could have.
"Of course, they used a vibrator, but I didn't have one, so I took that carrot from this morning's vegetable delivery."
"And you do know that man was paid to act like he was enjoying that," Lucas pointed out as his eyes feasted on her body.
"And how do you know you won't like it," Tomorrow asked, doing her best not to laugh.
"I had a wild youth and crazy group in my fraternity. My ass has seen some abuse. And candle wax burns like hell."
"Ah, you poor thing and your wicked youth bit you. But it was a joke I was just going to tease you. I expected to be back in your room, lying across the bed enticing you to let me tie you up."
"But I'm more fun with my hands and feet free," Lucas recalled as he wrapped his arms around her naked body drawing her into his embrace. "Are you going to marry me?" The question asked again.
"Well, we were supposed to talk about that last night, but someone was too interested in what was between my legs."
"And I'm still; but I want to marry what is between your legs, what is around your legs, in your head, and I want your heart. Come on Tomorrow marry me. I knew the moment I saw you that you are who I have been waiting for. You're my soul mate and I think you think I am yours too. We connect too well to not be together," he told her, holding her tightly.
"Okay, so tell me your time frame,"
"My time frame?" He asked, not really sure what she meant.
"Yes, I mean, do you want a big wedding with family and friends, or do you want a quiet wedding, just a few friends. As for me, I can go either way. Surprise mom, I'm married would be awesome,"
Rocking her in his arms, he asked, "So is that a yes to my proposal."
"Sure, I mean, how can I let go of a man who gives me so much pleasure between my legs. But if you slack off after I say I do. You're in trouble mister," she whispered into his neck as she kissed him.
"Don't worry; I'll be here for you. Okay, get dressed and let's go eat breakfast and figure out the specifics," he said with a light swat to her bottom. He had to keep the momentum going. She seems to have agreed to marry him with a sure and a caveat. Smiling like a fool, he watched her dig around her dresser for something to wear. If nothing else, living with Billy boy taught her not to be shy with her body.
As he understands sex was far and few between. How could a man live with that and not be crawling all over her all the time. Especially when that is what she wanted. He was a fool, an unmitigated fool. She found a dress and slipped it on, covering up all her magnificence. Adding a little lipstick, she was ready. She knew he preferred her fresh face simple, but a little color was needed otherwise her hair and face were all the same color. She needed to walk the beach today to keep her tan.
With the opening and holidays, she hadn't had a chance to spend much time outside during the day. She could find out what he was thinking, if they take a walk on the beach, and talk it out. Reaching out her hand, she pulled him up off the chair and he immediately seized her lips.
Close to taking her back to bed, Lucas pulled himself together and stepped back. Leaving Tomorrow swaying on her feet at his intensity. "I love you Tomorrow Jones and I can't wait to make you, my wife. You are everything I could ever want or need," he told her with that same intensity in his voice.
"Ah sweetie, I love you too," she said light heartedly trying to lighten his mood. He looked like he was going to devour her body. She just spent the last hour cleaning up from his last devouring which was amazing. Her toes had just uncurled.
"Come on sweetie let's go talk and eat, I'm starving."
He fought back that desire and followed. They needed to talk, and he needed to make an appearance out in the hotel. He had accomplished nothing this morning except being picked on and teased. It felt good that everyone knew he was the man. He did get Tomorrow going last night and she could be loud.
Stepping into the lobby, they received lots of smiles and greetings. Tomorrow twisted to his side as they entered the restaurant and asked, "did you tell them you were going to propose to me?"
"Hum no, apparently last night we had an audience outside my window. You were quite loud, and it drew a crowd. I was teased all morning, apparently you inspired a few hookups," Lucas told her as he guided her to his favorite table in the dining room.
"Oh, how embarrassing," Tomorrow said, tucking herself into a chair and sliding down as low as she could go and not fall out.
"Don't be embarrassed, everyone was happy for us. Kind of like it is about time."
Slipping back up in the chair, Tomorrow said, 'Yes, it was, and I had to throw myself at you. I figured if that red dress didn't do it, nothing would."
"Well, it worked, you got me so be happy," he teased.
Their basic breakfast came out with coffee and smiles. What looked to be half the kitchen staff stood looking at them through the open kitchen door. With a flip of Lucas's hand, they scurried away laughing.
"It has been like this all morning, guests, and staff alike.
Dan the poker man left all wrapped up in Glenna. Your calling out inspired them to hook up as it did a few others who were a little less willing to share as Dan was."
"Ok, I got it, I'm a harlot with a big mouth."
"No, you're a woman with a body that doesn't quit and the ability to express yourself," Lucas told her, hoping the teasing didn't suppress her enthusiasm. All he needs is for her to shut down because someone may hear. "It just built me up as the greatest lover and everyone will envy you."
"You're right, I had a good time last night and they all wished they had, let's get on with the wedding plans. I always envisioned being married in a big church and having nine bridesmaids all dressed in fuchsia and the men in white tuxedos with fuchsia ties and cummerbunds."
Lucas looked at her shocked and asked, "only nine."
"Yes, I always felt ten would be ostentatious don't you. And fuchsia sets white off so well," Tomorrow said, but he could see her fight to keep from laughing.
"Ok, let's start this again. Now if we invite the families, everyone will know where you live."
"True, what about your mother and her ass," Tomorrow asked sweetly.
"Exactly, does it sound like I want them here?" Lucas asked.
"So, it sounds like we will marry with just your friendly staff in attendance. We could let Niesha handle the whole thing and marry as soon as she can set it up." Tomorrow suggested to a dumbfounded Lucas.
"Are you playing with me?"
"No, it sounds the easiest to me, I want to marry you, you want to marry me, and my mother is going to throw a fit either way so why not. If you can get away, I can introduce you when I go back for court."
"Perfect, that is exactly what I wanted. I need to be with you in court also."
"Yes, you do, you can hold me back when I go to slit John's throat."
"John, who is that?"
"Billy's father, I blame him for all this. He pushed him to do what he did. He is still trying to cover it up, that is why that poor man had to die. Billy couldn't afford to pay to have him silenced," she said, getting aggravated over the situation.
"Morrow, if you were still with Billy, where would I be?"
"I guess, hooked up with one of the bimbos who came for Christmas," Tomorrow offered.
"But I don't want a bimbo, I want you."
"Well, I hope I didn't have to almost die for you to find true love."
"No, but it was what it took for you to go looking for me."
"Yeah, stupid me. It just shows you how loyal I am. But Billy never cheated on me."
"You have no reason to be concerned with me on that."
"Not even when I'm big and fat nine months pregnant."
"Especially then, I have dreamed of you in just that state and I can't wait. You pregnant will be a feast for my eyes. Let me go find Niesha and have her get busy. She will love this," Lucas told Tomorrow, he leaned over and kissed her as he made a beeline for the lobby. "Laurel will know where she is." Tomorrow offered and relaxed munching away on a piece of bacon. The staff knew exactly what to make her for breakfast, sliced fruit in season and bacon.
Niesha came charging across the dining room floor with a smile from ear to ear. "Oh, you lucky girl, after what I heard you would be crazy to not marry that man," she said as she hugged her neck. "So, you want something local and soon?" She asked, sitting in the chair next to her. Lucas joined them, taking his seat and smiled, eating a slice of mango as he sat.
"Exactly and we will have to go find a dress. We don't need anything elaborate, just nice and we want all of the staff involved, to us you're our family," Tomorrow told her, and they happily hugged again.
As they went into colors and flowers, preacher or judge, Lucas sat back and smiled. He was getting what he wanted, and he couldn't believe it happened so quickly. Pulling his credit card out of his wallet, he passed it to Tomorrow. "Go get whatever you need, and I will go find the rings," Lucas said as Niesha and Tomorrow stood. Given a concerned look, Lucas sat down quickly, she was about to say something. "What."
"I don't want anything big or lacy. I don't like flashy. Nor do I want to worry about being jumped at the market for my ring. A gold band is fine for me."
"A simple gold band?" Lucas asked, shocked in disbelief.
"Yes, a simple gold band is what I want."
"I want a big honking rock, so I guess it is good you're marrying her," Niesha teased taking Tomorrow's arm to get her moving.
Lucas sat dumbfounded, a plain gold band. No female in his life has had a gold band. Even his Nana, as old as she was when she died, as Niesha said, 'had a honker ring.' Stepping into the lobby Laurel yelled, "They're getting married. It is so exciting."
Lucas blushed, he needed to make sure things were under control so he could go out and find a gold band. He had a black tuxedo already and he thinks the white was a joke. He had a wedding to get ready for and he doesn't know if it is today, tomorrow, or next week, none of that matters as long as Tomorrow is in his bed tonight and for the rest of his life.
Lucas entered the Jewelry store; one he has passed a thousand times. His heart was pounding, he can't believe she has agreed to marry him. A pretty island girl buzzed him in. "Don't get excited, my bride only wants a plain gold band," Lucas warned the smiling salesgirl.
"Not a problem, we have plenty of those. So, you have your license and are ready to go?" She asked.
"No, we will meet up and go do that next."
The girl smiles, she has heard this same story a number of times. "You do know it takes eight days to be able to wed here," she informed and watched his smile fade quickly.
"No, that is news to me," Lucas complained and was shocked.
"Yeah, you have to submit your application and pay two hundred dollars in a certified check and wait eight days. But getting the rings now is a good idea," she offered, nodding towards the display case.
"Yeah, I'm sure it is. Eight days what genius thought up that idea," Lucas asked scanning the store for an explanation.
"This is a vacation spot, and too many people wanted to get married after a really nice night or weekend together," she said and cleared her throat. "Some would come back a few months later for a quickie divorce so now the wait," She explained. "The authorities didn't like our divorce rate, so they changed the wait time. It cut the divorce rate in half."
"Ok, but what if you live here and plan to continue to live here?"
"Eight days,"
"Ok, let me see what you have. We just have to slow down the plans."
Selecting a gold band with horizontal grooves around it and he bought one the same ring style for him. As he stepped out the door of the jewelry store, he called Tomorrow. "Bad news, there is an eight day wait here. We could fly to Vegas.
"Oh, don't be silly. I just heard the same thing,
So, we will wait," Tomorrow said, sounding disappointed too. "The sales lady told me, she said she loses a lot of sales that way, but it puts an end to 'bring backs."
"Ok then have Niesha bring you to the courthouse. I will go by the bank, and we will submit our application today. Next week we will be married sweetie."
"Ok, we will meet you. I only have my driver's license as I.D."
"That should be enough. I'm sorry I have never tried to marry anyone here before."
"I'm so glad to hear that." He could hear the smile in her voice. Lucas stuck the rings in the far corner of his dresser bottom drawer behind a stack of tacky khaki shorts in case Tomorrow gets nosy. She made a production out of hiding the dress from him.
They could have gotten around the law if she had an I.D. with the island address. Problem was it will take two weeks to obtain one of those.
