Tomorrow, Ty Takes Over The Hotel

The white tile floor gleamed, so reflective you could see up a woman's dress in the reflection. Tomorrow realized as she walked to the front door looking out to see if the cabs were coming. Ty, Becca, and Bruce are expected any second as well as twenty new guests. Tomorrow has had the staff working overtime to ensure the place was perfect for the new manager and has told them to keep the place looking the same from now on. She had noticed they had been slacking off lately. She jumped all over everyone in an early morning staff meeting with Diego at her side. She set them straight.

"They are coming," Diego called out from the covered drive. Bellhops stood to attention as did Laurel. Tomorrow smiled murmuring, "smart ass."

The first cab was full of men, four of them, two were very attractive. Tomorrow looked at Laurel as they entered and smiled.

"Hello Gentlemen, welcome to the Paradise hotel. If you need anything, please contact the front desk and I hope you enjoy your stay." Tomorrow said. "The next cab was a group of women. All looked to be in their late twenties. They were perfect game for the men who arrived before them.

Greeting them as she did the men she watched as Ty and the two others exited their cab. Becca was a cutie and Bruce was at least not flaming; but yes gay. Ty seemed unsure as they pulled their suitcases from the trunk. He turned and smiled when he saw Tomorrow waiting for him. He immediately escorted them inside the building to introduce them to their new boss.

"Tomorrow this is Becca and Bruce," he announced and was immediately found he was being hugged.

"I'm so glad you made it," she said, waving to Diego to come and help them. Becca was as cute as she could be, and she told her so. She had the brightest blue eyes she had ever seen almost violet. She was having a hard time not looking at her. She had a pixie haircut she had twisted in different directions, and she had dyed it black. She knew she dyed it because her eyebrows were brown, but the color made her eyes stand out more.

She had to pull her attention away from her and greet Bruce. He was a handsome fellow; Pearson is going to be thrilled. Shaking hands, they greeted each other warmly, and she had Diego show them to their apartments.

She continued to stand by the door greeting the next few guests and answered a few questions. She realized she was getting good at this owner's job. She had seen Lucas do it enough, she should be good.

"Ty was back within a matter of minutes changed into something more islander comfortable. Looking very much like she wanted him to, an Islander in need of a tan. He came and stood next to her, "are you hungry?" She asked. Smiling back, he said, "Oh yes, very much." Tomorrow smiled and they walked to the restaurant seeing no cabs coming. Getting a table near the doorway they sat and waited for the others to come join them.

"I told them we would eat first and then get acquainted and learn the job," Ty told her as he watched for them to come in. Becca and Bruce walked into the lobby, stunning Ty. "I didn't know she had those," he said in a way that seemed to be an apology.

"Oh, don't worry half of the people who come here have tattoos, it is not a problem. They are beautiful," Tomorrow told him as she waved them over. "Let's grab a bite to eat and get acquainted," she suggested as they sat down.

She found out Becca was a night person and didn't like the sun. They laughed about her decision to come here. She had no problem sleeping all day, she informed them so. Ty pulled a slip of paper from his pocket and devised a shift system. During the peak hours, they would have two people working the desk.

"I like your tattoos, they are beautiful. The little Podunk town I come from I haven't seen such beautiful work before. The ones I have seen seem to be prison tats, all black ink and fading to blue," Tomorrow told Becca as she looked at her artwork on her body.

She laughed. "Yeah, I have seen a bunch like that too. I have a friend who has done this work. He is the best one in Austin," she said, looking at the different designs on her arms. "If they are a problem, I can wear a regular long sleeve shirt."

"No, not at all. I think they are beautiful. I wish I had the guts to get one," Tomorrow told her.

"Oh, if you are afraid of needles, they don't hurt that much," Becca assured her.

"No, my mother would probably take a blow torch and burn it off me. So, no thanks. Plus, I haven't seen a decent tattoo on a local yet. You will probably be asked where 'did you get those'," Tomorrow told them. "What about you?" She asked Bruce.

"Me No, I don't have tattoos."

"No, tell me about you. Is working in the morning Ok with you?" Tomorrow asked.

"Yes, that is good. I'm a morning person and I enjoy working the front desk. I enjoy talking to all the people," Bruce said as Becca rolled her eyes.

Tomorrow saw that and wondered what the problem was. Maybe she was just tired of listening to his bullshit on the flight over. She knew some gay men could be boorish with their banter. Pearson gets on her nerves, him with his sexual comments about the men in the hotel. She wondered how she was going to do with Pearson. Oh, well if she can't cope, she can go home. She had better not catch her rolling her eyes at the guests.

With a quick but excellent lunch over and Laurel was showing Becca and Bruce the system as Tomorrow followed Ty into the office. She was going to show him what they had done while he was gone.

Shifting the papers around, he sat down with a slight groan, "do you know where Lucas kept his other receipts and files?" He asked, scanning the desktop cluttered with papers. All she has done is drop the bills and receipts on his desk.

"No, he usually did his paperwork when I slept."

"How are you doing?" Ty asked now that she brought up her health.

"I'm feeling better, the vitamins are helping with my energy," which she offered was the truth, but her afternoon nap was essential.

"OK, good. So, the hotel opened in December?"

"Yes, right before Christmas," Tomorrow told him as she sat close by.

"Ok, so that shouldn't be too hard to go back and find all the receipts, invoices, and checks. I may be at this for a few days if that is alright with you."

"No, you do what you think needs to be done. That is why we hired you."

"Well, is there someone else who needs to be compensated?" Ty asked, looking concerned.

"No, it's my friend, he works for the FBI. He was some Special Agent on my case. He helped me run the ad and approved of me hiring you is all he did. He doesn't need compensation. He'll be back soon; you will meet him. Nice person, real nice guy. He is part of the we," she said, losing steam. She needs to call him too and tell him about the baby. She was sure that would make him lose all romantic interest in her quickly.

"Ok, I'll let you get to it. It will all be here in the morning," she offered and left the room.

Bruce was sitting with Laurel, and Becca was nowhere in sight. She was going over how they do it here. Tomorrow figured Becca was back at her apartment resting for her shift. She would be on from five to five she assumed. Pearson from seven to seven and so on from now on, overlapping them for two hours at the busiest times. It was still twelve-hour shifts, Pearson and Laurel needed time off. She would worry about that tomorrow. Her very late lunch was fine with her, so she went to bed for the night.

She wakes to the dull glow of the morning, or maybe it's just overcast, and they are waiting for the rain. Rolling to her side the small alarm clock glowed red showing 5:49, she groaned at the early hour. She got up and spent a good hour pampering herself, something she hadn't done for a while. With legs as slick as silk and hair brushed until it shined. Her blow dryer ran all morning to achieve the look. She debated for a long time about cutting her hair. It had grown out almost to her shoulder, if she cut it in a short bob, she could at least stop worrying about it looking stupid with her deep side part.

"Well look at you pretty lady up and going this early in the morning." Pearson teased as she approached the front desk. "I hear congratulations are in order too. I'm excited for you."

"Thank you, Pearson, I'm excited too. How was your night?"

"Good Becca knows what she is doing, we ran the credit cards, and everything was approved. One was iffy, but she ran it half and half and it went through. She noted it on the receipt for the customer. Then she slipped them under the doors before she left for the morning. Bruce is taking towels to room 340. They called and needed more, they claimed they used them up taking showers last night."

"And what did you think of Bruce?"

"I was shocked to be honest that you hired another gay man but thanks. My question is when will I get a day off?"

"I know Ty set up the times not thinking about time off for you two. Let's let them work for two days and become acquainted with the place and then let you two have time off," Tomorrow suggested in an apologetic manner.

"Sounds good to me," Pearson said as Bruce came off the elevator.

"Orgy" he whispered as he passed to stand behind the desk.

"They have pulled the king size mattress off the beds and moved furniture around. The suite was a sea of people, some still sleeping, others looking half alive," Bruce told them.

"Was it the group who came in on your plane yesterday?" Tomorrow asked, sharing his whispering voice.

"I'm pretty sure it is."

'Good for them, I hope they had fun. That is what we are here for. FUN. And lord those were some good-looking men,"

"Looking already Boss," Pearson teased.

"No, but I'm not blind either," she smarted back.

Ty stepped into the lobby and took a step back, faking shock at seeing Tomorrow there so early.

"Yeah, don't get used to this. I went to sleep so early is my excuse," Tomorrow told him as he approached.

"Well, good to hear I was thinking my clock was wrong," he quipped back.

"No, but you will find starting later in the day will save your sanity. Nothing is going on at this time in the morning except printing up the bills. But Becca and I finished them by five this morning." Pearson offered as Laurel came to start her shift. Giving her a hug Laurel took over and Pearson left.

"Sounds good to me I was going to finish up with the audit and have a balance for you by the end of the day," Ty offered Tomorrow as he turned to go to the office.

"I'll be happy to see what you find. Are you hungry, we could have breakfast together first? She called out, "We need to find a way to give Laurel and Pearson some time off," Tomorrow suggested as she followed him.

"Oh gosh, I forgot, yes, we do need to do that," he said, taking Tomorrow's arm.

"Another reason to not get up so early is the restaurant doesn't open until 9:00," she said, realizing the time. "We found opening it earlier was a waste of money. We have continental breakfast for the few who do wake up early and want coffee and muffins, bagels, or a waffle, and we have the best strawberry sauce," she told him as they entered the empty dining room.

An hour later the decision that Ty and she will work the front desk two days a week was made for now. When they are busy Tomorrow works the morning to the afternoon shift and Ty works the afternoon to the night shift. They needed to hire one or two more people and give everyone an eight-hour shift; but for now, they will hold down the fort.

Pearson will go back to being the lone attendant late at night. The bellhops and he have been able to handle everything so far. Spring break may be a different animal altogether. Reservations have been pouring in and for the five weeks, they will be packed with all hands-on deck. That is not for another month, so for now they have approximately sixty people a day checking in or out of the hotel, not bad for off-season.

Taking up her position behind the front desk, Tomorrow waited for Yesterday to arrive. A line of cabs pulled into the overhang, each waiting their turn to drop their customers off. Three cabs down and Tomorrow held her breath. She watched as familiar legs swung out of the cab with four-inch heels and her long blond hair swished over her shoulder hanging well below her waist. She was reaching for something in the cab.

Letting that breath out and sucking in another deep one she stood in anticipation. Laurel watched as a smile spread across her face, she looked the place over.

Tomorrow began her approach to the doorway as Yesterday pulled her bag from the back seat swinging it to the ground with a thud. Two of the bellhops rushed to help her. She smiled and turned to look for Tomorrow. Their eyes met and they both smiled.

Tomorrow hadn't realized how badly she wanted to see family. A friendly face. She had lost so much, but she still had family. No matter how much she had lied to cover her tracks, Yesterday will still love her. She hadn't seen her since before she left the rehab.

They met in the middle of the lobby, hugged, and began to cry as Yesterday ran her hand over Tomorrow's face. "You look so good, how long have you been here? You have a great tan," Yesterday said, hugging her tighter.

"A while now, it is so good to see you. I didn't know how much I missed you until I saw you. Diego this is my sister Yesterday," she said as he pulled her bag in front of him.

She smiled at him as Tomorrow introduced her to more of the staff and she wondered why. Has she been here that long and where are the friends and co-workers from Chicago she came with?

She had the key to her room ready for her.

She didn't check in Tomorrow just took her to her room. The bellhop was very attentive to them. He and Tomorrow spoke as old friends.

"Ok, so what is going on?" Yesterday asked, because none of this made sense to her.

"Was it that transparent?" Tomorrow asked and sat on the bed. She gave her a cheap room knowing they were leaving the next morning to go hotel hopping.

"Ok don't hate me, but I have been lying since I left home,"

Tomorrow said shifting in her seat.

"Mother has been saying that all along. Something is up with Tomorrow. So, spill it and don't lie to me."

"I had not planned to lie. It is just a long story. I took a job here and lied to mom so no one would know I was here. Which I must say is a good thing. The LeMonie's were involved with some bad people and…" She told her about the women killed in Chicago. They cried together for their loss. She told her about Lucas, how he was killed and how they found her. "But now I own this place now and I have to keep it going for Lucas and his child," Tomorrow said and rubbed her stomach as they have seen Today do a thousand times.

"Really, you're pregnant?"

"Yes, we both wanted a baby by Christmas and Lucas accomplished his goal," she said as tears rolled down her cheek.

"Ah, sweetie, you have had it rough. There I was complaining I can't find a job and your life was falling apart. I'm sorry," Yesterday told her.

"No, don't be. I'm doing well now. I had to get it together. I have a hundred people looking to me to keep this place going. This was Lucas's dream. This was left to him by his grandfather.

I plan to keep it going as long as I can. With the money I will receive from the LeMonie's estate, I should have no problem.

I need to build a small house for the baby and me. This is a singles resort, and a crying baby will not be well received. I own all the land around the hotel. I just need to decide where to build," Tomorrow told her as she walked to the balcony. Yesterday stood next to her looking over the ocean. "It is hard to believe it is the same ocean that is so muddy by our town."

"It isn't this is the Atlantic side of the island, but it does flow into the gulf. But for now, we are going to go to the different hotels on this island and see what they have to offer,"

"Sounds fun. How far along are you?"

"About ten weeks is all. We worked together for months before we got together. It was right after New Years and the next day he wanted to get married so, eight days later, we got married and they shot him." Yesterday wrapped her arm around Tomorrow's shoulder.

"What I thought is let's go to the competition and see what they have to offer. Right now, I am not showing at all so we will fit in just fine. I want to see how their rooms are, the type of food they serve, entertainment, that type of stuff. We need to know the competition," Tomorrow told her. "I'm going to let you rest and when you're ready to come down, I will meet you in the lobby," she told her. She was relieved she took all the information so well. She hoped her mother would too.

Ty let out a frustrated breath, this was the third interruption in the last twenty minutes. Laurel was first to barge in to tell Tomorrow that Gavin and Dan will be here next week. She was excited and had to share. Niesha was next, a storm was coming so he sent the grounds crew out to batten down the hatches. Now someone else was tapping. Tomorrow chuckled at his frustration. "Come in," Tomorrow called out.

Yesterday opened the door and smiled. Tomorrow saw Ty's attitude change immediately giving his full attention to the beautiful girl intruder that just walked in his office.

"Ty this is my younger sister Yesterday, she is visiting for the week. Remember I told you I was going to go check out the competition. Well, she is going to help me."

Standing, he approached extending his hand as they touched Yesterday felt the spark and the surge settle in the pit of her womanhood. Taking her hand away quickly Ty wiped his hand on his slacks as if something weird had happened. Clearing her throat Yesterday asked, "So what are you two up to?" Coming to grips with what just happened. She had never had this happen before. No man has ever stirred her as he has. What the hell is this she wondered, needing to keep a close eye on him?

"Ty is my manager, and he was showing me the books and has totaled up the loss and profits since we opened. He was about to give me the bottom line."

"Oh, I love the bottom line," Yesterday said, squeezing beside her to see his work sheets. "I have a degree in business and a major in accounting. I love the numbers."

"Well, there you go. You need a job, and Ty needs someone a little more into numbers. He is needed on the floor so let me offer you a job," Tomorrow said, looking at Ty for confirmation that it is a good idea. With a slight nod from him she said, "you keep the books in order and help during the rush time at the front desk and I will give you twenty-seven a year along with an apartment and meals in paradise.

"And live here in this place," she asked, looking from her to Ty.

"Yes, we need the help. Spring break is almost here and then during the summer we will be swamped," Ty told her.

"If that sounds good," Tomorrow said, "but for right now we will share my apartment. As you know I will be gone for a while so you will be here on your own."

"Ah, don't make it sound so terrible, I'll be here," Ty said, smiling at her.

"Ok, he'll be here for you," Tomorrow agreed, seeing the lusty look in both of their eyes. She wondered about this place and the managers.

"Yes, that sounds great having you as a roomie this will be great. So, what did you come up with for the bottom line?"

Ty smiled and tapped the line on the bottom of the page. A smile crossed her face. "How much of this needs to go to first quarter taxes," Yesterday asked.

"That is a good question and when you get back you can find out," Ty said, waving his hand over all the paperwork on his desk. "And all the papers here involved are yours."

"My dream job is the bottom line," Yesterday gushed.

Tomorrow shifted to see his figures. "That much in just two months during the off season?" Tomorrow asked, surprised at the amount. No wonder his grandfather had millions in the bank for the remodel.

"Yes, ma'am Lucas knew what he was doing," Ty offered.

Tomorrow left with a spring in her step the smell of bacon drew her to the dining hall. Rocco knew she hadn't eaten lunch and that she was waiting for her sister. He also knew they would be hungry. "Rocco," Tomorrow called out as she stepped into the empty dining room. He stepped out of the kitchen, wiping his hands on a dishtowel. "Well, it is about time. I thought you decided not to eat anymore."

"No, I told you I had a guest coming. Rocco, this is my little sister Yesterday."

"Nice to meet you. Your sister is a ball buster."

"Yes, I have heard that about her," she quipped back, shaking his hand.

"OK get off my ass. Have you hired more help?"

"I did your highness. What I did is hired more busboys and promoted the better busboys to waiters, incentives to work harder."

"Very smart, I just hired my sister to do the books and help at the front desk." We have a bottom line so you will be getting your percentage in a few days."

"So, we did, Ok?"

"I think we all did very well," Tomorrow told him, "Christmas bonuses should be good if things continue at this rate."
