DeSean couldn't wait to address the tension that Mercedes’s statement stirred during their previous meeting. He arranged for Mercedes to come into his office first thing in the morning.
Mercedes arrived, visibly nervous but trying to hide it under a mask of determination. DeSean wasted no time.
“Mercedes, I need you to tell me everything—absolutely everything—about your relationship with Ronnie. No omissions this time,” DeSean said firmly, leaning forward at his desk.
Mercedes hesitated, then took a deep breath. “Ronnie and I were close friends... at least, I thought we were. We grew up together, hung out at the same spots, and even helped each other with homework. But... something shifted.”
DeSean raised an eyebrow, signaling her to continue.
