Mercedes woke up feeling a weight on her shoulder. She opened her eyes and found a head with a bunch of hair on her shoulder. She screamed and pushed the head off and it hit a window.
A window?
A loud groan came from the hair. "What did you do that for?" The owner of the head spoke with a hoarse voice. It sounded female.
"Who are you?" Mercedes questioned with a shaky breath as she was scared.
"It's me, Elsa." The person spoke tiredly and removed the hair from her face and smiled weakly.
Mercedes gasped in surprise and hugged her. "Elsa! Why was hair all over your face?"
"It's my bed hair." Elsa mumbled and rubbed her eyes. Mercedes chuckled and looked at her surrounding. The ceiling was grey, the windows were tinted, there were two grey seats in front which could only mean one thing.
SHE WAS IN A CAR!!!
"The fuck?" She yelled.
"Stop yelling. My head aches." Elsa murmured, massaging her temples.
"We've been kidnapped, Elsa!" She yelled again.
"Stop yelling." A deep, raspy voice spoke from the passenger seat. The owner of the voice looked back and she recognized him to be Gary. His blonde hair was scattered all over his face.
"Gary, you're here." She smiled gratefully, seeing the young man. She wasn't the only one here so she was thankful.
"My head is banging and you keep yelling." Gary complained, rubbing his forehead. She felt sympathy for the man but there was a serious matter on ground.
"We've been kidnapped." She told Gary. From the side, she saw Elsa facepalm.
"What? How'd you know?" He asked.
"We're in a fucking car, can't you see?" She yelled.
"Shit. My phone. I can't find my phone." He panicked as he searched for his phone.
"Stop shouting." Elsa spoke tiredly.
Gary continued panicking, raising his voice at each sentence. "I have to go to work, I can't find my phone. The fuck am I supposed to tell Nick?"
"Baldwin shut the fuck up and listen to me." Elsa yelled making Mercedes flinch.
"What?" Gary snapped and she shot him a death glare.
"Sorry." He apologized.
Elsa sighed and pinched her nose bridge. "Have you tried unlocking the car?"
"Right." Gary said and unlocked the car.
"It opened. Haha." He said happily and came out of the car. Elsa shook her head and left the car with Mercedes.
Mercedes stretched and looked at her surrounding. The car was parked in the driveway of a beautiful house. "What is this place?" She wondered aloud.
"Our kidnapper must've been so careless. I mean who leaves hostages alone?" Gary said with a chuckle.
"We weren't kidnapped. That's my house and that's my car." Elsa spoke and the other two looked at her with surprise on their faces.
"How did we get here?" Gary questioned.
"Can't you remember what happened last night?" Elsa asked.
"I can't." Gary said.
"Me too." Mercedes added.
Elsa sighed. "Let's get inside the house." She walked to the front door with the two following behind her. She took the key from a flower pot and unlocked the door and they entered inside.
"Ignore the mess. I just lost my mom, so..." Elsa said and went straight to the kitchen. The other two looked around the house.
"Do you have aspirin?" Mercedes asked as she felt her head ache.
"Just a minute." Elsa said and opened a cabinet and took out a transparent container that had drugs in them. She took out aspirin from the container and kept it back inside the cabinet. She walked to her refrigerator and took out two bottles of water which she handed to Mercedes and Gary along with the drug.
"Thank you." Mercedes and Gary said as they collected the drug and bottle water after which they swallowed the drug. Mercedes sighed and walked to the couch and sat down when she sighted her phone on the coffee table.
She gasped and picked it up. "My phone."
"How did it get here?" Gary asked as he picked up his from the coffee table.
"Probably DeSean." Elsa said from the kitchen as she made coffee for herself.
"DeSean was here?" Gary asked, looking at Elsa.
"Mhmm." Elsa hummed and sipped her coffee.
"Shit." Mercedes cussed as she saw the time which read 2:22pm and the amount of calls she missed from Chris. She got up from the couch and called her best friend.
"Hey Chris." She spoke immediately her best friend picked up.
"Where the fuck are you?" Chris yelled angrily from the other end which made Mercedes shift the phone from her ear.
"I'm at Elsa's place." Mercedes answered as she walked to the hallway.
"Who's Elsa and why are you whispering?" Chris questioned.
Mercedes sighed. She didn't even realize she was whispering. "Sorry. Elsa is the misogynistic lawyer's assistant."
"Is she the one you met yesterday?" Chris asked.
"No that was Gary, the associate." Mercedes said staring at a painting on the cream colored wall.
"What's going on? I'm confused." Chris said with the confusion clear in her voice.
"I'm confused too but I'll tell you everything when I get home. My head is banging right now." Mercedes said.
"Mer-" Chris started.
"Gotta go. Bye." Mercedes said and hung up. She sighed and put the phone in her back pocket and walked back to the living room. Gary was nowhere to be found.
"He's in the bathroom." Elsa said from the kitchen. Mercedes nodded and walked to the kitchen island and sat on a stool.
"You like cereal?" Elsa asked.
"Yeah." Mercedes nodded.
"Good cause I don't know how to cook." Elsa said with a chuckle as she opened a cabinet and took out a box of cereal and milk from the refrigerator.
"I can't cook too." Mercedes chuckled as Elsa kept the cereal and milk on the island with a bowl and spoon.
"Thanks." Mercedes smiled.
"I'm gonna go change." Elsa said and left. Mercedes sighed and made her cereal and started eating. She tried remembering what happened the previous night but her memory was foggy. Elsa walked in, now dressed in some boy shorts and a big T-shirt.
"So what really happened last night?" Mercedes asked as Elsa made cereal for herself.
"We met at the club. We got drunk and DeSean brought us to my house." Elsa simply said and sat down on the stool across Mercedes.
Mercedes frowned at the mention of DeSean. "Why did he leave us in the car?"
"Because y'all was heavy and you stressed my life." A deep familiar voice spoke from behind her which caused her to flinch, her heart skipped a beat and shivers to run down her spine.
She let out a breath and turned to face him. He stood close to the couch, looking so good as usual in his grey Nike tech and white air forces, holding a takeout bag with his right hand while the left was in his pocket. There were stubbles on his chin and his face held a frown. His blue eyes staring at her grey ones.
He cleared his throat as he caught her checking him out.
She felt embarrassed but didn't show it. "Then why did you carry us to the car in the first place?" She asked with a frown matching his.
"Because I have a conscience and Elsa was there." He said with a shrug.
"So your 'conscience' died when we got here?" She said, doing air quotes.
"Exactly." He smirked and walked to the island. He stood beside her kept the takeout bag
His response, his smirk and his presence beside her angered her. "What are you doing here anyway?" She asked with a frown.
He sat on the stool beside her and looked at her. "Should be asking you that question. What are you doing here?"
"Well, someone brought me here without my consent." She said and crossed her arms.
He raised a brow. "Oh, so I would've left you in the club, naked? You wouldn't have minded right? The workers and perverts would have seen you naked."
"You're lying I wasn't naked." She didn't believe him.
"You took off your camisole. Kept complaining about how hot it was." He said nonchalantly.
"That's a lie." She disagreed.
"Okay then. Tell me what happened." He crossed his arms waiting for her to speak. She opened her mouth but nothing came out.
"Fille naïve." He muttered in French. (Foolish girl)
"You can't even remember and you keep arguing with me." He said, disappointment in his tone.
"Then how is it on me right now?" She asked.
"I helped you, of course." He said like it was something easy. Her eyes widened.
"D..does that mean you saw m..my b-b-boobs?" She stuttered.
"Ye-ye-yes." He stuttered, mimicking her which made Elsa chuckle.
"Arrg." She groaned in anger and got up from the stool. That's it! She's had enough of him! She took her purse and walked to the door.
"Where you going? Mercedes!" Elsa called after her but she ignored and left the house. She was so pissed. How could her insult her like that? She checked her purse and saw she had some change. She walked to the road and hailed a cab which took her home.
