Chapter 27: The Truth Beneath the Surface

The revelation in court had sent shockwaves through the trial, but DeSean knew it wasn’t over yet. If anything, it had just begun. The moment he stepped out of the courthouse, cameras flashed in his face, and microphones were shoved toward him.

“Mr. Savage! How does the toxicology report change your defense strategy?”

“Do you believe your client was framed?”

“Is Mercedes Lexington still a suspect, or do you think someone else was involved?”

DeSean ignored them, adjusting his cufflinks as he walked through the chaos. Elsa and Gary flanked him, their expressions unreadable. The crowd of reporters and spectators was massive—larger than usual. The media had latched onto this case like leeches, feeding off every revelation.

“This is a circus,” Elsa muttered under her breath.

Gary scoffed. “It’s only going to get worse.”

DeSean didn’t doubt that. If the press was bad now, it would be a war zone by the time they reached closing arguments.
