Chapter 28: Unraveling the Truth

DeSean and Gary had been searching for hours with no luck. Marco Herrera was proving to be as elusive as a ghost. They had followed every lead, checked every possible address linked to him, and even tried calling some old contacts, but nothing. It was like he had vanished into thin air.

DeSean was beginning to feel the pressure. Time was running out, and they needed to find Marco before the next court session. If they didn’t, Jimmy would rip their case apart, and Mercedes would have no defense strong enough to counter what was being thrown at her.

Gary sighed, tossing his phone onto the dashboard. “This is pointless, man. Maybe we should—”

His words were cut off by the sudden ringing of DeSean’s phone. DeSean snatched it up immediately. It was one of his private investigators.

“Tell me you have something,” DeSean said urgently.
