Chapter 6

This sentence spoken, a massive weight lifted from my heart.

A boulder that had been crushing the air out of me for years.

It turns out all it took was one sentence to escape this shattered marriage.

From her repeatedly abandoning me for other men, time and again disregarding my existence.

I've wanted to flee.

But her past kindnesses were like get-out-of-jail-free cards, compelling me to hope she'd return to her former self.

Yet I grow weary too.

I simply don't have the energy or time to keep waiting.

I gripped the arm of the person in front of me so tightly that blood seeped from my fingertips before Vivienne finally frowned and released me.

Looking straight at the person before me, I enunciated each word, "Vivienne, I'm perfectly clear-headed right now. I want a divorce. Let's free each other."

Vivienne glared at me, her eyes blood-red, once again yanking my arm and dragging me into the guest room.
