30. Isabella's punishment

AT THE SAME TIME

XAVIER'S POINT OF VIEW:

I stood rigidly before my parents, my jaw clenched as I recounted everything that had transpired. King William and queen Clara sat on their thrones, their expressions darkening with every word. The elder, standing beside them, radiated a quiet but simmering fury. When I finished, silence filled the throne room, heavy and suffocating. Then, my mother's voice sliced through it like a blade. She was angry and when she was angry we knew that we were in a big trouble.

"Terrence. Michael. What have you done?" Queen Clara's usually warm voice was cold, sharp with disappointment. "You have cast aside the one chosen by the Moon Goddess for you, for what? A priestess who cannot even have a mate? Did you forgot the laws told by a moon goddess?"

Terrence shifted uncomfortably, while Michael's face twisted into a scowl. It was a little funny to see them like this.
