"I am Scarlett's brother. Brother-in-law, why did you hurt me? Have you ever regretted it?"
The man on the couch, his eyes tightly shut, furrowed his brow. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead as he opened his mouth, unable to speak for a long time.
I could only intensify the hypnosis. The man's choked and hoarse voice emerged low and deep.
"I'm sorry, Scarlett. I'm sorry, little brother. It's all my fault. I've let you down. I deserve to die, I deserve to die..."
Hearing his confession, I said no more. In his current mental state, he couldn't handle any more.
I left a letter and turned to leave the mansion.
A full day later, Damien slowly opened his eyes. He pressed his throbbing temples, unable to understand why he had suddenly fallen asleep.
His gaze fell on the envelope on the table before him. Damien opened it, and familiar handwriting met his eyes.
"Damien, we pinky promised when we were kids. You broke that promise. You owe my brother his life."
