"I'm sorry, Scarlett. I did it all. I broke the promise we made as children. I've wronged you. I'm a beast, I deserve to die... I didn't admit it because I was too afraid of losing you. Without you, what's the difference between that and death?"
I stood up, looking down at him coldly, and said each word with icy precision:
"Then go die."
Damien stumbled out of the company's main entrance like a soulless marionette.
My last words kept echoing in his mind.
"Go die."
Perhaps only death could atone for his sins.
Damien looked up at the CEO's office. From afar, he thought he could see my cold eyes.
Not the innocent, shining eyes from twenty years ago, nor the grateful eyes from seven years ago,
And certainly not the eyes full of love that gazed at him in the dead of night.
A resigned smile spread across Damien's face as tears silently fell from his eyes to the ground.
