Chapter 5

Daniel watched as Trinity came down the stairs. She was petite in nature, so small that he fought the urge to want to carry her little frame in his big arms. Her brown hair was tied up into a messy bun and her brown eyes looked as if they hadn't gotten enough sleep through the night. She cringed when she noticed him staring at her.

"I said breakfast was by seven, not past

ten." He said dryly.

"I hope you kept some for me then." She joined him at the table and rubbed her face with her palms.

"Feel free to help yourself with breakfast, I'm not your maid."

She scoffed but didn't say anything.

"Speaking of maids, I already hired a personal care assistant for you who you'll get to meet in about an hour's time. He's going to be helping you with all you need."

He?

Daniel read her thoughts clearly and winked.

Oh god, hopefully he wasn't trying to be suggestive or anything.

"I don't need a caregiver, much less a male at that. I'm not a sick patient." She argued. She couldn't stand the thought of being treated like an infant or an old lady.

"Of course not, but as my beautiful trophy wife, you shouldn't worry about getting stuff done in this huge place all alone."

She looked doubtful at him.

"I don't want you breaking anything or having stuff misplaced."

Trinity bit her tongue and held back the things she should've said in response to his degrading remarks. He stood up and came back a minute later with a plate in his hand and set it right down for her.

"Ooh, bacon. How did you know my favourite? Been stalking me, have you?" She gave him a fake smile.

"I did my research." He returned the fake smile. "Would you also want me to feed you, since you can't do anything for yourself?"

Trinity ignored him and ate in silence. She was starving, and she herself didn't even know it. He watched her finish every bite of the food, he watched as her lips curled and folded with every bite, and he also felt a bit of hunger when she licked the smear off of her lower lip.

"Can't get enough of this huh?" She mimicked as she chewed the last bite of meat and swallowed.

He only smiled at her copycat statement, and then the doorbell rang.

"I think the assistant might be a little too early." Trinity said.

"That's not the assistant." He said as got up to open the door.

A tall man walked into the apartment and gave a little look around before he noticed Trinity sitting at the counter. He was dressed in a professional suit and held a case in his arm. He looked extremely good as well, almost as handsome as Daniel but the distinction was in his blonde hair and blue eyes. He smiled and nodded at Trinity.

"You must be Mrs. D'alore." He made his way over to give a handshake. "I'm Troy, Daniel's friend-"

"Assistant." Daniel corrected.

Troy had the most perfect smile Trinity had ever seen, and he seemed very friendly. Trinity felt herself flush a bit when he took her hands. Very gentlemanly.

"He doesn't like to admit that he's not much of the loner he thinks he is."

"Oh? That's surprising." Trinity chuckled lightly. "I'm Trin-"

"Trinity. Trinity Everton…. I mean D'alore. Everyone knows who you are." He gazed into her soul, almost as if he wanted to read everything that was going on in her head.

"I hope you're a fan, at least."

"Big time." Troy said assuringly.

"Okay that's enough, get over here." Daniel called his friend's attention back to him and Trinity couldn't hear much of what they were saying except that Daniel wouldn't be going back to work for a month. Sooner than expected, the two men said their goodbyes and Troy waved Mrs D'alore goodbye.

"Careful now, he's taken." Daniel said out of the blue.

"Really?" Trinity wasn't going to lie, she was curious.

"No, but you wouldn't want another scandal on your plate now, would you?"

Daniel instantly regretted saying what he said as he saw the smile on his wife's face turn to a look of anger. He knew he deserved every hate she felt towards him, but did that really matter?

"I didn't mean it like that -"

Another doorbell rang, and this time Trinity was actually hoping her male assistant was the one at the door. Anything to make Daniel D'alore disappear from her sight.

Daniel answered the door hesitantly and introduced the new assistant to Trinity. He was a lovely chap and super friendly, but unlike Daniel who was almost well into his thirties, Rick- as he was called- seemed too young for her. Even though he was twenty seven and a year older than she was. At least he could cook and clean.

"These are just the basics of what you're expected to do in the absence of a maid in this house." Daniel explained to the young man who looked bright and eager to be working with two famous people.

"You got it sir! And if there's anything you need, feel free to let me know and I promise to do my job in carrying them out for you."

"Oh, I hope you're good at keeping your promises because beauty here can get a little needy sometimes." Daniel tapped the boy's shoulder and Trinity wished the ground would swallow her up in that exact moment.

Rick looked a bit lost, or embarrassed to admit he understood what Mr D'alore was saying and gave a simple naive nod. "Sure….. whatever you need…" He said awkwardly and left.

"Did you have to say that?" Trinity scolded as Daniel laughed.

"You should've seen his face."
