"That hits the spot~" Coco moaned in delight, her muscles relaxing as she sank further down the calm stream of the river.
She asked Lala to grow aloe vera by the shade of the orange tree and picked out the largest one since she knows that there's no skin care product at this time and generation from what she could tell.
She will use the aloe vera later to smoothen her skin as a start, but for now, she needs to wash out the grime and dirt from her skin. She heard from Zaque that the market has soap, but she's sure that its quality is as low as she can think of.
That's where aloe vera comes in! She thought proudly and brushed her nose as if she did something amazing.
While taking a bath, she cleaned her clothes. She used her tattered shirt to scrub her skin to get the dirt out. It wouldn't do much, but it will do for now. She haven't bought anything from the market yet because she gave everything she earned from selling the fruits to Zaque.
I could have taken some, but I don't know how money works in this world. Coco thought somberly as she continued to scrub her skin, the dirt and grime mixing with the stream, washing her body tension away along with them.
Once she's done washing herself, she got off the river and dressed herself. She doesn't care if her clothes are still dripping wet, she only scrubbed it to take off the grimes and lessen the bad smell. She picked up the orange peels of the oranges she had eaten earlier and scrubbed those on her clothes to make the citrus scent stronger.
She took her time fixing her appearance, spreading aloe vera on her skin and letting it dry naturally. She swung her arms in the air to let the aloe vera dry faster, walking around and doing circle motions in the air like an idiot.
She double checked her face and arms if it's dry before going back to work. She pulled all the fresh and ripe fruits from the tree and placed them in the basket.
She created another basket from big leaves before she took a bath on the stream and used that one to carry everything.
She's not sure why the basket is sturdy and strong enough to carry the fruits down the mountain, but she's thankful she doesn't have to spend money to buy baskets.
She needs to be as resourceful as she could be, because money is obviously a problem in her current situation. She can live by herself in the mountains, but she have another four people to take care of because they're still legally tied down to her.
She's responsible for their food, house, and money because she's the 'alpha' of the pack. Yet, the old Coco wasted her every day life and threw everything down the drain by creating debt.
Sure, she was rich before she married Zaque and according to her memories, after she married Alhai, that's when her drinking habits got worse. Coco's parents wanted an heir to their name, but Coco didn't want to bed them nor share a bed with so she drowned herself in alcohol instead to avoid them.
She was really a trash. Coco thought as she place the basket on her hips, pressing it against her to hold it with one hand.
"Come on, Lala. We'll come back later." She gestured for the fairy to sit down on her hair— even though it's still wet— and Lala wholeheartedly did so.
Lala had shown a great amount of affection to Coco ever since they got here. If Coco could, she would spoil the fairy with things from that world to repay her kindness and generosity.
The duo followed the path down the mountain. It was a long journey to get to the village because Coco and Lala moved up to the mountain. However, Coco was relentless with her walking pace as she hike down the mountain.
At first, they were by the bottom of the mountain when they first arrived which was a forest just a few kilometres out from the village. So, the journey to the village is much longer this time since the house they're building is not further up.
The sun was already setting when they reached the forest. Lala has been humming happily the whole way down and Coco's clothes are now dry thanks to the slightly humid air of the afternoon.
The citrus scent hasn't gone away yet so she hasn't gotten the feeling of throwing up. Hygiene is important after all! She doesn't want to stink so she'll sell the fruit, take some of the money then buy soap.
"Are we going to sell those to the same human we met the other day?" Lala asked as she peered down to the fruit basket.
"Nope! We'll talk to another person who wouldn't look down nor treat us like trash unlike that person." She started with a scoff before glaring into the distance to emphasise how bad the man was.
"Hmm.. Okay! As long as you're okay with it! Hehe~" The fairy giggled and hugged her head. Coco has been accompanied by Lala the whole time so she's getting used to seeing her. At first, she wasn't sure if she did get transmigrated, but after a few days of labour, she realised that this is her new reality.
Once they went through the village gates, they received several stares from people. Specifically, the vibrant and ripe fruits on Coco's basket, but she didn't pay any attention to them.
Now, all she needs to do is look for a vendor who can buy the fruit with as much money as she could haggle from that person.
Cheap trick? No! She's just surviving! She have people to feed and things to buy so haggling the price for the reasonable price for her ripe and juicy fruits should be understandable.
The fruits Lala grow herself is a treasure, people should appreciate it and pay the price she'll set!
